CS2 Martinez was Porter's "Jack of the Dust" (JOD) from March, 2022 to May 31, 2023. JOD was an official rating in the U.S. Navy Supply Corps until 1893. Now, Culinary Specialists like CS2 Martinez manage all the ship's bulk dry and frozen food storerooms, break out food stores to feed over 350 Sailors, and assist in ordering supplies so the ship can maintain its inventory.
Without CS2's hard work in the storerooms throughout Porter's patrol, we'd be a very hungry crew! Thank you, CS2!

DC2 Bass was selected as the Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 2 “Sailor of the Quarter”. This is a huge testament to her dedication, attitude, and proficiency as a Sailor and a Damage Controlman (DC). DCs are the ship’s first responders to damage on the ship. Be it fire, flooding, toxic gas, or structural damage, Sailors like DC2 Bass will be there to keep the ship and their shipmates safe. Thank you for everything you do, DC2, and congratulations!

Porter hosted an all hands call this morning, where some of Freedom’s Champions received much-deserved recognition for their hard work. Congratulations to our ESWS recipients, FCA2 Celiscar and HMC Duke, and to our Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal recipients. Special shoutout to the Gas Turbine Generator changeout team and to our new Champion of the Week, LSSA Roberts. Fight on, Champions!

Freedom's Champions stay tough out to sea! Over the weekend, Porter Sailors had the opportunity to compete in a friendly weightlifting competition for the 1000 lb and 500 lb club. Thanks to all those who participated and congrats to those who set new personal records!

Here's a spotlight on a few of the Sailors changing out a Gas Turbine Generator during the port visit in Denmark. The job is normally accomplished by an Intermediate Maintenance Activity, but "Freedom's Champions" were able to accomplish this meticulous task under the supervision of a Gas Turbine Inspector.
