« Education is at the core of everything »

Ambassador Birgitt Ory recently visited the German Speaking Evangelical Church in Addis Abeba, which brings together the 🇩🇪 German-speaking community in 🇪🇹. It also runs the inclusive and impactful German Church School (GCS). This school provides education to about 300 children from vulnerable backgrounds, including children with disabilities, creating a unique environment of joy, hope and inclusion. 📚

During her visit, Ambassador Ory received a warm welcome from the children whose enthusiasm and aspirations for a brighter future were tangible! 👧🏽👦🏻✨ The church, supported by the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD), continues to be a cornerstone for community and education in Addis.

Yesterday, the German Embassy in Addis Ababa hosted a fireside chat and networking reception on the topic of "How AI is Changing the Cyber Threat Landscape."

The event was held on the occasion of the visit of Mr. Felix Kroll, Cyber Coordinator at the Federal Foreign Office of Germany, and as part of the AU workshop on “Advancing the Application of International Law in the Cyber Context in Africa.”

On invitation of UNESCO Office in Addis Ababa, in cooperation with UNDSS, and H.E. Selamawit Kassa, የቱሪዝም ሚኒስቴር-ኢትዮጵያ Ministry of Tourism-Ethiopia, as well as The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, Ambassador Birgitt Ory will join a group of foreign diplomats for a visit to Lalibela ⛪ - one of the most iconic UNESCO World Heritages Sites in Ethiopia. Very excited to learn more about 🇪🇹 Ethiopia’s ancient culture and history!

Proud to have joined The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, the Ethiopian Wildlife Conservation Authority and the Ethiopian Heritage Trust - Ethiopia in the Diplomatic Tree Planting 🌳 event yesterday at Entoto Park!

Germany 🇩🇪 stands committed to conserving biodiversity in Ethiopia 🇪🇹. Through the Biodiversity and Forestry Programme, implemented by GIZ, we have worked with the Ethiopian Heritage Trust to protect natural habitats. Over the past eight years, the Frankfurt Zoological Society, Ethiopia, through financing of KfW, has partnered with the Ethiopian Wildlife Conservation Authority to support sustainable management of the Bale Mountains National Park 🏔️.

Together, we are united in preserving biodiversity and protecting vital ecosystems 🌎.

Humanitarian diplomacy in action: the Heads of Mission of the Humanitarian & Resilience Donor Group (HRDG) stand ready to support humanitarian actors like the Ethiopian Red Cross Society, the International Committee of the Red Cross Ethiopia, UN in Ethiopia and NGOs.

After 6 months of chairing the HRDG, we 🇩🇪 are proud to hand over to our colleagues from the Embassy of Denmark in Ethiopia🇩🇰.

Germany supports the Productive Safety Net Programme (PSNP) in Ethiopia

As the fifth phase of the PSNP draws to a close on 30 June, we proudly reflect on its outstanding impact. This transformative program supported 8 million people and empowered over 900,000 households to achieve self-sufficiency through targeted livelihood support. 🇪🇹🤝🇩🇪

Germany contributed €100 million via , underscoring our commitment to sustainable development and resilience. We anticipate building on this success as PSNP Phase 6 launches in July 2026.
