በብሔራዊ የእንስሳት ጤና ጥበቃ ኢንስቲትዩት 8ኛው የአረንጓዴ አሻራ መርሃ-ግብር ተካሄደ
"ተስፋን እንትከል" በሚል መሪ ቃል፣ ሐምሌ 10 ቀን 2018 ዓ.ም. በብሔራዊ የእንስሳት ጤና ጥበቃ ኢንስቲትዩት 8ኛው የአረንጓዴ አሻራ የችግኝ ተከላ መርሃ-ግብር ተካሄደ። የኢንስቲትዩቱ ከፍተኛ አመራሮችና የኢንስቲትዩቱ መሰረታዊ የሰራተኛ ማህበር አመራሮች የተገኙ ሲሆን የአየር ንብረት ለውጥን ለመቋቋም ፤ ተስማሚ የሆነ አረንጓዴ አካባቢን ለመፍጠር ለምግብነት የሚዉሉ የፍራፍሬ ችግኞች፦ አቮካዶ፣ ፓፓያ፣ ሙዝ እንዲሁም ለደን ሽፋንና ለአካባቢ ጥበቃ የሚውሉ ልዩ ልዩ የችግኝ አይነቶች ተተክለዋል።
በዕለቱ የኢንስቲትዩቱ ዋና ስራ አስፈጻሚ ዶ/ር ታከለ አባይነህ ባስተላለፉት መልዕክት፦ "የእንሰሳት ጤና እና የአካባቢ ጥበቃ በቀጥታ የተሳሰሩ ናቸው። ጤናማ ስነ-ምህዳር መፍጠር የምንችለው እንደዚህ ባሉ የአረንጓዴ አሻራ መርሃ-ግብሮች ላይ በንቃት ስንሳተፍ ብቻ ነው፤ የተከልናቸውንም ችግኞች ተንክባክበን የማጽደቅ ኃላፊነት አለብን" ብለዋል። የ8ኛውን የአረንጓዴ አሻራ የችግኝ ተከላ መርሃ-ግብር ልዩ የሚያደርገው ለችግኝ ተከላው የሚሆኑ ቦታዎች በጥናት ላይ ተመስርተው የተለዩና የዝግጅት ሥራው ቀድሞ የተከናወነ ከመሆኑም ባሻገር የተተከሉት አብዛኛዎቹ ችግኞች ለምግብነት የሚውሉ መሆናቸው ነው፡፡
ኢንስቲትዩቱ የተለያዩ የእንስሳት በሽታ መከላከያ ክትባት እንዲሁም መድሃኒት በማምረት የእንሰሳትን ጤና በመጠበቅ ረገድ ከሚጫወተው ሚና በተጨማሪ በተፈጥሮ ጥበቃ ላይም በንቃት ተሳትፎ እያደረገ ይገኛል።

The National Veterinary Institute Honored for Its Contribution to Veterinary Education, Research, and Training
The College of Veterinary Medicine and Agriculture at Addis Ababa University has formally recognized the National Veterinary Institute (NVI) for its outstanding support of the college’s academic and research programs over the past several years.
Dr. Hika Waqtole, Executive Dean of the College, commended NVI’s pivotal role in strengthening both graduate and postgraduate programs. He highlighted the Institute’s engagement in hands‑on practical training, provision of advanced laboratory facilities for student research, and educational visits to its biopharmaceutical manufacturing facilities; all of which have fostered stronger university–industry linkages.
Dr. Takele Abayneh, Chief Executive Officer of NVI, received the recognition trophy from His Excellency Dr. Fikru Regassa, State Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture of the FDRE. The award was presented during the College’s 2026 Graduation Ceremony, attended by the President of Addis Ababa University, the Mayor of Bishoftu City Administration, the Customs Commissioner, distinguished dignitaries, graduates, and their families.

National Veterinary Institute and Tecon Pharmaceutical Inc. Strengthen Collaboration on Veterinary Diagnostic Technologies

The National Veterinary Institute (NVI) hosted a delegation from Tecon Pharmaceutical Inc., China, on June 12, 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen international collaboration in veterinary diagnostics.
The visit follows earlier engagements between the two institutions, including the recent visit of NVI's senior management and Board members to China, where both parties initiated discussions on strategic cooperation in veterinary diagnostic kit development and technology transfer.
A major outcome of the visit was the signing of a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) between the two institutions, providing a framework for the secure exchange of scientific, technical, and commercial information necessary for collaborative research and product development.
Under the proposed partnership, Tecon Pharmaceutical Inc. will provide 24 different veterinary diagnostic kits covering molecular diagnostics, gold colloidal rapid tests, and serological (ELISA) diagnostic platforms.
The collaboration will include technical cooperation, capacity-building and training programs, field validation of diagnostic kits, performance evaluation studies, and reporting of validation results. Speaking during the signing ceremony, Dr. Takele Abayneh, Chief Executive Officer of the NVI, emphasized the importance of international partnerships in strengthening veterinary diagnostic.
Dr. Takele further noted that NVI is committed to fostering partnerships that facilitate technology transfer, knowledge exchange, and scientific advancement, in line with the institute's vision of becoming a regional center of excellence in veterinary vaccines, diagnostics, and biological products.
The Non-Disclosure Agreement was formally signed by Dr. Takele Abayneh, CEO of the National Veterinary Institute, and Mr. Zhou Yang , Manager of Africa and MENA Region at TECON pharmaceutical.

Seminar held at National Veterinary Institute on Microbiome Approaches
A scientific seminar titled “Use of Microbiome Approaches to Characterize Microbiota Dynamics” was held on April 28, 2026, at the NVI, bringing together researchers, technical staff, and students with a shared interest in microbiology, genomics, and antimicrobial resistance.
The seminar was officially opened by Dr. Takele Abayneh, CEO of the National Veterinary Institute (NVI). In his opening remarks, Dr. Takele emphasized the critical importance of such seminars in strengthening institutional capacity, promoting knowledge exchange, and keeping researchers abreast of rapidly evolving scientific technologies.
The keynote presentation was delivered by Dr. Zelalem Mekuria, Assistant Professor at the College of Veterinary Medicine and the Infectious Disease Institute (IDI), Ohio State University.
Dr. Zelalem provided valuable insights into modern genomics and metagenomics tools, demonstrating how these approaches can be applied to better understand microbial communities and support research in animal and public health.
During the session, participants actively engaged in discussions, reflecting strong interest in applying advanced microbiome and bioinformatics tools within their respective research areas.
In his remarks, Dr. Mirtneh Akalu, Head of the Research and Development Department, noted that this seminar serves as an initial step to inspire participants to explore advanced technologies. He added that future programs will include hands-on training sessions to provide practical experience and deepen technical competencies.
Finally, Dr. Berecha Bayissa, Operations Executive, concluded the event by emphasizing the need for researchers and technical staff to continuously upgrade their skills in modern technologies.

Russian Federation delegate visits the National Veterinary Institute

Excellency Maria Abdalkina, Representative of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation and Second Secretary of the Russian Embassy in Ethiopia, visited the National Veterinary Institute (NVI) on 27 January 2026 to discuss potential collaboration in technology transfer for livestock vaccine production.
During the meeting, the delegate expressed the Russian Federation’s interest in supporting collaborative agricultural initiatives with African countries, particularly in facilitating partnerships between Russian companies and NVI in vaccine production technologies.
The Director General of NVI, Dr. Takele Abayneh, emphasized the historical ties and ongoing collaborative engagements between Ethiopia and Russia. He conveyed the Institute’s strong interest in working with Russian companies and presented an overview of NVI, highlighting potential areas of cooperation. Dr. Takele underscored NVI’s main focus areas: enhancing production capacity, diversifying vaccine types, and advancing vaccine production technologies. He noted that technology transfer in high-demand vaccines; both for domestic use and export markets, is a priority.
The Operations Deputy Director General, Dr. Berecha Bayissa, further indicated that the supply of advanced vaccine production equipments, training programs, and experience-sharing initiatives with Russian companies could serve as key areas of collaboration.
The discussion was also attended by Dr. Alemayehu Mekonnen (Advisor to the State Minister for livestock at Ministry of Agriculture), Dr. Mirtneh Akalu (R&D Director, NVI), and Mr. Mesfin Tadesse (Sales Director, NVI), who contributed to the deliberations.

የኢንስቲትዩቱ ዋና ዳይሬክተር ዶ/ር ታከለ አባይነህ ስለ ክትባትና መድኃኒት አመራረት ዘርፍ የግንዛቤ ማስጨበጫና የፖሊሲ ድጋፍ የሚፈልጉ ጉዳዮቸን እንዲሁም፣ ስለተቋሙ አጠቃላይ እንቅስቃሴና ያለበትን የአፈጻጸም ደረጃ ለቋሚ ኮሚቴዉ አብራርተዋል፡፡ ተቋሙ በቀጣይ አሁን እየሰራ ካለበት ቴክኖሎጂ ወደ ተሻለ ለማሸጋገርና አለም አቀፍ ተወዳዳሪ ሆኖ እንዲቀጥል መልካም የአመራረት ዘዴን መስፈርት የሚያሟላ ዘመናዊ የእንሰሳት ክትባት ማምረቻ ላብራቶሪ እንዲሁም ሌሎች ወሳኝ የማምረቻ ማሽኖችን ለመተካት የአዋጪነት ጥናት ለማከናወን በሂደት ላይ መሆኑን ገልፀዉ ኢንስቲትዩቱ ከሚያገኘው ትርፍና የውጭ ምንዛሪ ባሻገር ለእንስሳት ሀብት ልማት ዘረፉ የሚያበረክተዉ አስተዋጾ በእጅጉ የጎላና ቁልፍ ሚና ያለው በመሆኑ አመራረቱንና የምርቶቹን ግብይት ለማሳለጥና በፖሊሲ ሊደገፍ ይገባል ብለዋል፡፡

የኢንስቲትዩቱ የግብይትና ሽያጭ ዳይሬክተር አቶ መስፍን ታደሰ ከክትባት እና መድሃኒት ግብይት ጋር በተያያዘ ያለዉን ነባራዊ ሁኔታ አቅርበዋል።

ቋሚ ኮሚቴዉ ከሰራተኛዉ ጋር በምርት ስራዎች፣ በሰዉ ሃብት አስተዳደር እና በሌሎች ተያያዥ ጉዳዮች ላይ ሰፊ ዉይይት አካሂዶ አመራሩና ሰራተኛዉ የኢንስቲትዩቱን ራዕይ ለማሳካት በቅርበት ለችግሮች መፍትሄ በማስቀመጥ የኢንስቲትዩቱን ትርፋማነት ሊያስቀጥል እንደሚገባ የቀጣይ አቅጣጫ አስቀምጠዋል፡፡
