Nokia inaugurated its new R&D and manufacturing campus in Oulu in 2025. Home to approximately 3,000 professionals, the campus is one of the world’s most advanced hubs for 5G and 6G radio innovation, bringing together R&D, testing, and manufacturing under one roof.

We sincerely thank Laura Karjalainen, Head of Radio Networks R&D Programs and Head of the Oulu Technology Center at Nokia Mobile Infrastructure, and her team for their warm welcome on August 28 and for the insightful and in-depth discussions.

We look forward to further strengthening collaboration between Taiwan, Nokia, and Oulu’s wireless communications ecosystem, fostering closer partnerships and contributing to the continued growth and advancement of Taiwan’s communications industry.

【環海的眼睛 Eyes Across Seas｜臺灣芬蘭短片影展】

誠摯推薦「環海的眼睛 Eyes Across Seas」臺灣芬蘭短片影展，將於 9月11日至12日 在赫爾辛基 Kino K13 舉行。臺灣與芬蘭同樣與海洋緊密相連，卻有著不同的歷史、文化與生活經驗。本次影展透過來自臺灣與芬蘭的短片作品，探索遷徙與離家、家庭與記憶、原住民族與身份、信仰與生死，以及關係與衝突等主題。

🎥 Eyes Across Seas: Taiwan–Finland Short Film Festival will take place on 11–12 September 2026 at Kino K13 in Helsinki. Although Taiwan and Finland are both closely connected to the sea, we are shaped by very different histories, cultures and landscapes. Bringing together short films from Taiwan and Finland, the festival explores themes including migration, family and memory, Indigenous identity, faith and death, as well as human relationships and conflict—creating a space for stories and perspectives from across the seas to meet.

Oulu, Finland, is one of the world’s leading hubs for 6G wireless communications research and development.

On August 28, Ambassador Freddy Lim visited MediaTek’s R&D team in Oulu to advance deeper Taiwan-Finland cooperation and further strengthen engagement with this outstanding Taiwanese company and its team in Finland.

Congratulations to Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan on the successful Helsinki debut of 13 Tongues at the Helsinki Festival from August 27 to 30! This marked Cloud Gate’s first performance in Finland, receiving a warm welcome from Finnish audiences. Amb. Lim also attended the opening night to show his support and congratulate Artistic Director CHENG Tsung-lung and the entire Cloud Gate team.

We are delighted to see Taiwanese contemporary dance on the Finnish stage, giving more Finnish audiences the opportunity to experience Taiwan’s vibrant culture and creativity. 🥳Taiwan Alumni Association in Finland Reunion
Last Friday, Ambassador Lim hosted a reunion tea party for our Finnish friends who have been or are going to Taiwan for study or exchange with Taiwanese matcha boba and snacks.

In recent years, cultural and educational exchanges between Taiwan and Finland have flourished. Students from both sides have shown an increasing interest in traveling and studying in Taiwan and Finland. We wish all students who are going to Taiwan this upcoming semester a truly rewarding time.

本處於8月21日下午辦理芬蘭留台校友會茶會，邀請曾經到台灣留學、交換或研習華語的芬蘭青年重聚，本處特別準備台式珍珠奶茶及點心，讓在場朋友重溫在台求學時光。

近年台灣與芬蘭文化教育合作與交流持續成長，越來越多台灣及芬蘭青年對赴芬或赴台留學或旅遊表達高度興趣。在這裡也要預祝即將於新學期赴台的芬蘭同學們在台生活充實豐富，滿載而歸！

🤩Taiwan and Finland are forging increasingly close ties in the field of robotics.

Project Manager Aleksis Pillai of Forum Virium Helsinki, an innovation organization wholly owned by the City of Helsinki, visited Taiwan to attend Automation Taipei 2026, held from August 19 to 22.

During his visit, Mr. Pillai was accompanied by Dr. Su Huang, Deputy General Director of ITRI’s Southern Region Campus, on a tour of the exhibition booths of Taiwanese companies that have collaborated with ITRI on the research and development of various types of robots.

Mr. Pillai highly commended Taiwan’s achievements in robotics research and development and expressed his hope for further strengthening exchanges and cooperation between Taiwan and Finland in this field.

One stroke. Only this moment .

We warmly invite you to discover 《初道First Path》by Taiwanese artist Rae Hsu, opening in Helsinki on 21 August.

After fifteen years of calligraphy practice and ten years of meditation, Rae Hsu began to explore beyond the traditional rules of calligraphy, drawing inspiration from nature, movement, time, and chance.

Her works include Incense Script, where incense replaces the brush and fire becomes the ink, and Worm-Eaten Script, which follows the slow, instinctive movement of an insect. Inspired by Buddhist and Taoist thought, each work is created only once—capturing a moment that cannot be repeated.

✨ Opening Performance — Calligraphy × Body × Improvised Sound
📅 21 August 2026 (Friday), 18:00–19:00

Rae Hsu will write with her whole body, allowing movement to become writing, accompanied by Taiwanese multi-instrumentalist Huang Tai-Yuan.

25 Years and Non-Fiction Island by Taiwanese artist Rong-Ci Zhang explores the relationship between what we see and what we understand. Combining landscape photography, 309 moon prints, and a soundscape by Haiyun Yu, the exhibition reflects on identity, perception, time, and the connections between individuals, society, and culture.

Rong-Ci Zhang is a Taiwanese artist based in Helsinki, working across photography, sculpture, sound, and installation.
