š¤The Australian Governmentās AustraliaāPacific Partnerships for Aviation (P4A) Program is supporting strengthened aviation weather services in Tuvalu through its partnership with the Bureau of Meteorology and the Tuvalu Meteorological Services.
As part of this work, the Bureau completed Automated Weather Observing System site selection surveys in Vaitupu and Nanumea, supporting future aviation connectivity
In Funafuti, the team conducted an operational readiness inspection of the existing AWOS, reviewing sensor performance, communications and data transmission, power supply, server infrastructure, METAR dissemination pathways, and remote support arrangements.
This activity contributes to more reliable aviation weather information for air traffic services, meteorological authorities and local stakeholders, while strengthening Tuvaluās capacity to provide aviation weather services.
The work also included coordination with the Australian High Commission Tuvalu. and engagement with Kaupule representatives in Vaitupu and Nanumea to support local access, logistics and implementation.
