🍃 Supporting a Greener and More Sustainable Nausori 🌱

The Nausori Town Council is pleased to acknowledge the handover of a wood chipper by Recycle Organics, a significant contribution towards strengthening our composting and organic waste management initiatives.

This equipment will play an important role in processing green waste and organic materials, transforming what would otherwise be discarded into valuable compost that can be reused to enrich soils and support sustainable landscaping efforts throughout our municipality.

The partnership between Recycle Organics and the Nausori Town Council reflects a shared commitment to environmental stewardship, waste reduction, and the promotion of circular economy practices within our community. By diverting organic waste from disposal and converting it into useful resources, we are taking practical steps towards a cleaner, greener, and more resilient Nausori.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Recycle Organics for their support and collaboration in advancing sustainable waste management solutions. Together, we can create lasting environmental benefits for current and future generations.

Today, the Nausori Town Council together with the Ministry of Multi-Ethnic Affairs, Culture, Heritage and Arts, and the Commissioner Central’s Office commemorated 147th Girmit Day in remembrance of the indentured labourers who were brought to Fiji by the British Empire in 1879.

The celebration honoured the sacrifices, resilience, and enduring contributions of the Girmitiyas whose strength and perseverance helped shape the social, cultural, and economic fabric of our nation.

As we reflect on this important chapter of Fiji’s history, may we continue to uphold the values of unity, diversity, and mutual respect that bind us together as one people and one nation.

🚧 Waicuku Creek Desilting Works Underway 🚧

Desilting works has commenced at Waicuku Creek, located behind the Nausori Market, as part of ongoing efforts to improve drainage, reduce flooding risks, and maintain a cleaner and healthier environment for the community.

These works are essential in clearing accumulated silt, debris, and overgrown vegetation that can obstruct water flow, especially during periods of heavy rainfall. Improving the creek’s capacity will assist in minimizing water stagnation and supporting better sanitation around the market area and surrounding communities.

Council acknowledges the cooperation and patience of nearby vendors, residents, and motorists during the operation period. We also remind the public to refrain from illegal dumping into drains and waterways, as this contributes significantly to blockages and environmental pollution.

Together, let us work towards keeping Nausori clean, safe, and resilient for everyone.

Today, our hardworking Nausori Town Council team was out in full force at Dilkhusha Ward, carrying out essential drain clearing works to keep our community clean and reduce flooding. 💧🛠️

Despite the weather, these dedicated workers removed debris, cleared blockages, and restored proper water flow through the drainage system. Their efforts play a crucial role in preventing flooding, reducing health risks, and maintaining a safe environment for all residents.

We kindly remind everyone that keeping our drains clear is a SHARED RESPONSIBILITY. Please dispose of waste properly and avoid littering, as blocked drains can quickly undo the hard work put in by our teams.

Let’s work together to keep Nausori clean, safe, and resilient.
