The Northern Division Crime Officer (DCO/N) Superintendent of Police (SP) Isoa Natui officiated the closing the two days Fiji Police Women’s Advisory Network (FPFWN) Empowerment workshop in Labasa last Friday.

The empowerment workshop was held on the 04th - 05th June, 2026 at Ramada Encore in Labasa.

"This workshop is Important in the sense that policing is a profession that requires constant learning and re-learning," said SP Natui.

The Divisional Crime Officer said women in Policing are often resilient.

"The achievements of Fiji Policewomen can never be challenged. Women officers have and continue to create history. You set benchmarks. Benchmarks set by women officers before you that did not have the same opportunity as you have today. "

SP Natui extended his appreciation to all women officers for their contribution to policing, assuring the executive members of his support of the network's empowerment efforts within the organisation.

SP Natui also acknowledged the assistance of the New Zealand Police for their continued support under the Fiji Police Partnership Programme, a partnership that has grown from policing to one of friendship.

The post-mortem for the late Sakiasi Ose Radravu was conducted on Saturday 06th June 2026.

Immediate family members were present for formal identification prior to the conduct of the examination, and were briefed immediately after on the cause of death, which has been linked to a pre-existing medical condition.

It has been confirmed from the Valelevu Police Station records, that Mr. Radravu was taken in for questioning on the night of the 23rd of April 2026 in relation to a case of alleged burglary.

He was kept in custody and later released.

It has also been confirmed from his family that no official report of an alleged assault was lodged following his arrest.

To ensure transparency, the respective File will be forwarded to the Resident Magistrate with the findings and recommendation for possible inquest.

The Fiji Police Force will however continue to pursue an internal investigation into the conduct of the twelve (12) police officers involved in the raid, and failure to adhere to processes and procedures in the conduct of the investigation into the case of alleged burglary.

A directive has been issued to investigate the officers involved in the initial arrest and detainment, as well as the lack of supervisory oversight.

The Fiji Police Force acknowledges that the lack of compliance to due processes continues to exacerbate complaints against police and service.

To address this, the Internal Affairs Unit has been directed to ensure internal oversight mechanisms are strictly adhered to by middle managers, and failure to do so, will result in disciplinary action.
