๐๐ Inspiring conversations on the vital connection between our oceans and climate action were shared during the OCEAN-CLIMATE NEXUS Storytelling: Pre-COP Community Event that was held at the University of Fijiโs Saweni Campus in Lautoka.
The community event brought together students, academics, climate advocates, and development partners to explore the important role of the ocean in addressing climate change.
The event was co-hosted by the University of Fiji, the Pacific Islands Development Forum (PIDF), Asia Pacific Regulatory Centre (APRC), Minderoo Foundation, and Artesano Productions.
Through storytelling, dialogue, and community engagement, participants reflected on the challenges facing the Pacific and the collective actions needed to protect our Blue Pacific Continent.
A highlight of the programme was the launch of "๐๐ฐ๐ช๐ค๐ฆ๐ด ๐ฐ๐ง ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐๐ข๐ค๐ช๐ง๐ช๐ค ๐๐ฉ๐ช๐ญ๐ฅ๐ณ๐ฆ๐ฏ", a publication by APRC that uses stories, poetry, and artwork to share childrenโs lived experiences of climate change.
The book amplifies young Pacific voices and their perspectives on the realities and impacts of a changing climate.
The day also featured an exclusive screening of "๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ธ๐ช๐ต๐ฉ ๐๐ข๐ท๐ช๐ฅ ๐๐ต๐ต๐ฆ๐ฏ๐ฃ๐ฐ๐ณ๐ฐ๐ถ๐จ๐ฉ", followed by an engaging Ocean Talks panel discussion.
