CEO of , Mr Isikeli Navuda, was the chief guest on 13 May at the World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) and Girmit Day commemoration held at Rishikul Sanatan College, Nasinu, organised by the Nasinu Committee of Older Persons in partnership with the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Protection.

Mr. Navuda highlighted the importance of everyone playing a role in preventing elder abuse and reaffirmed the Housing Authority’s commitment to reviewing the Housing Authority Act 1955 to strengthen social protection and provide safe, affordable housing solutions for Fiji’s ageing population.

He paid tribute to the elders and chiefly households of which the Nasinu suburbs and homes reside. He also acknowledged the elderly descendants of Girmitiyas and all other elderly people living around Nasinu who have contributed to this nation and sincerely thanked them for their efforts, hard work and sacrifice.
