Today, we remember the 144 people who lost their lives in the Aberfan disaster 60 years ago, including 116 children.

Our Teams will be observing a minute’s silence at 9.15am, as we remember the children, families and community of Aberfan.

Our annual report is here! This time, we’re shining a spotlight on Our Foundations, the people, systems, finances and big ideas that help everything else happen.

Behind every warm, safe home and every great community project is a strong foundation, and this year has been packed with progress.

We launched our new People and Culture Strategy, continued building an inclusive workplace, became the first housing association to successfully reaccredit with Tai Pawb’s QED mark, and celebrated colleagues developing, progressing and achieving great things.

We also created a new Business Improvement Team, launched new ways to manage ideas and projects, improved how we communicate with tenants through Community Connects Us, and developed a new Digital Transformation Strategy to help us work smarter and support better services.

Strong finances matter too, our refinancing work means we can invest even more in existing homes, new homes and decarbonisation.

Our annual report is here! Our Communities section is packed with stories, stats and brilliant examples of people coming together.

This year, we’ve been getting closer to our tenants, listening carefully to what matters most, and shaping services around real voices and real experiences.

From our co-produced Customer Commitment and tenant away days, to Sole Mates walks, wreath-making, community hubs and volunteering opportunities, it’s all about building confidence, connection and trust across our valley’s communities.

There are some fantastic highlights too, including 1,314 tenants and community members supported through well-being interventions, 125 people taking part in community activities, more than 400 tenants engaging with jobs, skills and volunteering support, and 83% overall tenant satisfaction in our latest STAR survey.

A huge thank you to everyone who shared their voice, joined a session, volunteered, supported a neighbour or helped make our communities stronger this year. Have a read and celebrate the impact with us!

From pumpkin carving and campfires to clay pot making and bat box creation, there’s plenty to get involved in.

At Cynon Taf, we're committed to creating safe, inclusive communities where everyone feels respected, valued and heard.

We're working with tenants to improve how we respond to hate crime and anti-social behaviour by listening to people's lived experiences and using this feedback to shape our services. Through our ASB Tenant and Staff Working Group, we're bringing tenants and colleagues together to help influence how services are designed, delivered and improved.

We believe the people who use our services are best placed to tell us what works well and where we can do better. By listening, learning and working together, we can create stronger, safer communities for everyone.

Hate has no place in our communities. Together, we can make a difference.

Today is World Mental Health Day 💚

Looking after our mental wellbeing can be as simple as getting outside, staying active and spending time with others.

That’s what our Sole Mates walking group is all about - bringing Cynon Taf tenants together to enjoy the outdoors, meet new people and take some time for themselves.

We’ve got some VERY exciting news… we’re finalists in three categories at the Welsh Housing Awards 2026!

▪ Supporting Communities: Gower Davies Court Residents Association - Building Community, Reducing Isolation

▪ Excellence in Tenant Participation: our co-designed Customer Commitment

▪ Campaign of the Year: our brand-new Home Improvement Hub, helping tenants and colleagues make sense of decarbonisation and the improvements coming to tenants’ homes

And there’s even more to celebrate: the Gower Davies Court initiative was also a winner at the TPAS Awards! It’s a fantastic example of neighbours coming together, supporting one another and making their community an even better place to live.
