Aberdeen & Boring Politics - Politics, but the way locals see it. Bored of politicians knocking on your door only before an election, then disappearing for four years?

4 days to go. Write down what they say and see if they will honour their own words.

Somebody needs to take it more seriously. The laws that give these young offenders the false sense of invincibility must be revised.

A person who harasses or assaults others in broad daylight should no longer be treated as a youth. At that point, they are a young offender and should be treated accordingly.

Politicians should take this issue seriously by revising laws that may give young offenders a false sense of invincibility and impunity.

Disgusting video been sent in several times today showing this person assaulting a male in the town centre whilst his friends including the girl film it. Absolutely horrible😢
Thankfully a great bystander stepped into help.

This is not what this city is about. 😡

Individuals who throw objects from the top of a parking, endangering people and vehicles below, should not be treated leniently as minors. This behaviour poses a serious risk of injury or death, and in such cases, they should face consequences comparable to those applied to adults.

Politicians should take this issue seriously by revising laws that may give young offenders a false sense of invincibility and impunity.

Amid ongoing global instability—particularly the crisis in the Middle East—energy security and economic resilience must be treated as immediate priorities. Any environmental policy that fails to account for these realities risks being disconnected from the conditions people are actually living through.

In the Northeast of Scotland, and especially in Aberdeen, many households and businesses are already under pressure from persistent inflation and weak growth. For them, this is not an abstract debate about long-term sustainability—it is a question of jobs, income, and economic survival.

This is precisely why the current moment presents a strategic opportunity. Aberdeen has the infrastructure, workforce, and expertise to respond to global energy demand—whether through continued North Sea investment or as a base for a phased and commercially viable energy transition. Ignoring this capacity in favour of idealised timelines risks undermining both economic stability and public support for climate policy.

None of this is an argument against environmental responsibility. But transition must be grounded in economic reality. A strategy that sacrifices existing industries without delivering equivalent jobs, revenue, and energy security is not a transition—it is managed decline.

If policymakers believe this opportunity should be rejected, then the burden is on them to present a credible alternative. That means a plan with comparable employment, clear investment pathways, and realistic timelines—not just targets or ambitions.

Until such an alternative is put forward, it is entirely reasonable to expect that Aberdeen be allowed to leverage its strengths to meet both local economic needs and global energy demand.

The comments come against the backdrop of rising fuel prices caused by the US-Israeli offensive in Iran and the disruption to the shipping of energy products in the Strait of Hormuz
