Our officers have been venturing off the beaten track, deploying in the woods and fields around our sites.

Project Servator deployments are designed to be unpredictable and can happen anywhere at any time. Don’t be surprised or alarmed if you see our officers and weren’t expecting to. They will be happy to answer any questions you have about the tactic and how you can play your part in keeping our sites and communities safe.

We will be exhibiting at the British Forces Resettlement Services - BFRS National Careers Fair on Thursday 17 September at Tidworth Leisure Centre from 09:30 to 13:30.

This event is for the Armed Forces Community who are embarking on a resettlement journey and wish to explore our available careers and job roles.

PC Tom Clough was a former CNC officer, having joined the Civil Nuclear Constabulary in 2013 and served until April 2018 as an Authorised Fi****ms Officer (AFO) based at Sellafield Operational Policing Unit (OPU).

During his service with the CNC, he spent time as a Temporary Sergeant, and trained as a Dynamic Search officer, a member of the Interdiction Team, a Police Medic and an Operational Fi****ms Commander.

Chief Superintendent Richard Clark, who was Tom’s commanding officer at Sellafield OPU, paid tribute to him:

“I had the privilege of knowing Tom during my time as Chief Inspector at Sellafield, where we worked together on numerous operational deployments and exercises. Tom was the epitome of professionalism, bringing dedication, skill and commitment to every task, whether serving within our Dynamic Search and Interdiction Team, or in his role as a Police Medic.

“Yet what made Tom truly special was his personality. Alongside his professional excellence, he possessed a fun-loving, cheeky nature and a wit that could lift spirits even during the most demanding shifts.

"He had an extraordinary ability to light up any room he entered and to bring people together through his warmth, humour and authenticity.

"Tom was a hugely popular CNC officer, respected by colleagues and leaders alike, and it is no surprise that many of those who served alongside him remained close friends long after he left the organisation.

"While his life was far too short, it was undoubtedly one that was lived to the full. Tom will be remembered with immense affection, gratitude and respect, and he will be hugely missed by all who had the privilege of serving alongside him.”

The Civil Nuclear Constabulary was extremely saddened to hear of the deaths of PC Tom Clough, PC Matthew Blades, and 5 members of the public on the A66 in the early hours of this morning.

Chief Constable Simon Chesterman said “I would like to express my condolences on behalf of all members of the CNC towards the families of all those involved in this tragic incident.

"We also recognise the impact this will have on those who served alongside both officers in Cleveland Police. Your wider police family has you in their thoughts and prayers. Tom had previously served with the CNC, and we know his loss and that of PC Matthew Blades will be felt across the whole policing community.”

Please join us in welcoming our latest recruits to the Civil Nuclear Constabulary.

Last week, we celebrated the achievements of the officers with graduation ceremonies taking place in Cumbria and Oxfordshire.

Chief Constable Simon Chesterman and Assistant Chief Constable Kerry Smith were proud to host the events, offering an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of the officers in the presence of their families and colleagues.

Our initial training is a pass/fail programme, with multiple stages of assessment. Although some recruits join us with policing or military experience, for many this is their first uniformed role.

To reach graduation is an outstanding achievement and we're excited to watch the officers continue to develop as they move to their Operational Policing Units across England and Scotland.

Our thanks goes to our training team, who work hard to ensure all of our officers are prepared to deliver our Mission as Authorised Fi****ms Officers.

Project Servator officers are specially trained to spot tell-tale signs that someone may be planning or preparing to commit a crime, but your support and assistance with Project Servator is the key to its success. You can help protect the sites and communities that you are working in, living in and visiting by reporting anything that doesn’t feel right.

Our specially-trained officers from Dounreay have been out engaging with the local community and members of the public travelling the North Coast 500 route, reminding them to stay vigilant and report any suspicious or unusual behaviour.

Members of the public and local communities are a vital part of the network of vigilance that helps disrupt criminal activity and keep our sites and communities safe.

Suspicious activity is anything that seems out place, unusual or doesn’t seem to fit in with day-to-day life.
