I was pleased to meet Alan, owner and manager of Dreadnoughtrock Bathgate, widely recognised as Scotland’s oldest continuously running rock club.
The Dreadnought has hosted countless live acts and supported generations of local bands. As someone who attended regularly when I was younger, I know just how unique and important it has been, and continues to be, for people growing up in West Lothian.
It was valuable to hear first-hand about the challenges facing live music venues, the importance of local support and the opportunities ahead.
I’ve also recently met with the Scottish Co-ordinator for , the UK charity working to protect, secure and improve grassroots music venues. I look forward to supporting venues across my constituency and helping ensure grassroots live music continues to thrive.
