🎉 A fantastic day for Church Lane Play Park! 🛝

It was lovely to attend the official opening of the newly refurbished Church Lane Play Park today, with the Mayor of Gedling Councillor Sandra Barnes cutting the ribbon to mark the occasion.

As Secretary of the Friends of Church Lane and St Mary’s Play Park and Recreation Ground, I’m incredibly proud of what has been achieved.

A special thank you must go to our wonderful Chair, Lea Gilly, and her family, who have put so much time, energy and determination into this project. They’ve worked tirelessly to involve the local community, listening to mums, dads, grandparents, guardians and children to help create a play area that families can really enjoy.

I also want to pay tribute to Michael Payne MP, who helped get this project off the ground and played an important role in establishing our Friends group. His support from the very beginning has helped us get to where we are today.

The refurbishment has been made possible thanks to funding from the FCC Communities Foundation, working in partnership with Gedling Borough Council and our Friends group.

And the best part? Seeing so many children enjoying the new equipment, with big smiles on their faces! The park is already attracting lots of families, and it’s wonderful to see it full of life.

This is what can happen when a community comes together and works towards something positive. A brilliant new space for local children and families to enjoy for years to come. 💚

Thank you to everyone who has played a part in making it happen!

THE STATE PENSION AND THE TRIPLE LOCK FACT 🆚 FICTION!

Some politicians and certain media outlets are using scary headlines and spreading misleading claims about changes to the State Pension Triple Lock. You deserve to know the facts ⤵️

Gedling Borough Council are consulting over the next 6 weeks on the introduction of a new Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) relating to Dog Control. We want to know whether the public think the Council should enforce the need for dogs to be kept on leads in public spaces when directed by an authorised officer, and require dog owners to carry bags to clean up their dogs' waste.

🌙🦇 A great evening exploring Hobbucks Nature Reserve after dark!
Really enjoyed joining local Cllr Henry Wheeler, the Sherwood Forest Trust and other people from the community who came along for the nocturnal nature walk at Hobbucks Nature Reserve.

It was fascinating learning more about bats — how they use echolocation to navigate and find their food, what they feed on, and the different species we have living locally. We even managed to spot a few bats flying overhead! 🦇

It was great to see so many people from the local community coming together and taking an interest in the wildlife and nature we have right here on our doorstep.

A big thank you to the Cllr Henry Wheeler & Sherwood Forest Trust for sharing their knowledge and putting on such an interesting and enjoyable evening. 🌳🌙

Great to be out and about in Coppice Ward with our MP, our local Councillor and team talking to local residents about local issues such as Labours investment in roads that need fixing.
Working for you all year round not just at election time. 🌹

I am very pleased to announce that I have organised a guided nature walk at the Hobbucks Local Nature Reserve. The walk will be hosted and led by the Sherwood Forest Trust. The walk will discover the variety of nocturnal species that call the Hobbucks Local Nature Reserve home.

The Sherwood Forest Trust will be bringing bat detectors and will teach you all about how to identify the species, how they hunt and survive! We hope to see bats, 🦇foxes,🦊 moths, owls,🦉and more!

As with all wildlife, sightings are a bonus not a promise! The walk will start at 7pm and we will be finished for 9pm.

Make sure to wear weather appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear and bring a torch if you have one. The ground can be uneven underfoot and it will be dark.

I look 👀 forward to seeing you on the day, details of how to obtain a ticket 🎫 for this free event are attached below : 👇🏻
