Sign the A257 Road Safety Measures Petition

Following years of campaigning for safety improvements on the A257 through KCC's Highway Improvement Plan scheme with Parish Councils, no positive results have been achieved thus far.

The A257 Traffic Group (of which Ash Parish Council is a member) are calling on KCC to act and improve safety along the A257, including the Ash Bypass.

Too many fatal and serious collisions have occurred on this stretch of road.

The A257 Group is proposing:
* 50mph speed limit on the Ash bypass
* 40mph speed limit in the hamlet of Shatterling
* central double white lines on the Roman Road
* and enforcement of the speed limits
to improve safety for everyone living, working, walking, cycling, riding and driving on this road.

Please sign the petition calling for action from KCC Highways here:
https://democracy.kent.gov.uk/mgEPetitionDisplay.aspx?id=567

The petition is supported by Ash Parish Councillors, Sir Roger Gale MP and Kent Police Neighbourhood Beat Officer PC Jon Bowler.

Please show your support signing the petition which closes on 19 August 2026. Please share!

Announcing our Community Awards Winner – Louise Venny!

The Kent Association of Local Council (KALC) Community Awards acknowledge and give recognition to a resident of the Parish of Ash who has made a significant contribution to our community. Earlier this year we asked for your nominations.

We are pleased to announce that Louise Venny received the most nominations from residents of the Parish. She has been awarded a certificate to recognise her contribution to the Parish:

“Making a positive difference through her dedication, energy, actions and voice; Ash Wildlife Friendly Village, Advent Windows, church bell ringing, spring bulb planting, litter picking, Speedwatch, charity fundraising, and more!”

Louise attended a Celebration Evening at Shepherd Neame where her certificate was presented by the High Sheriff of Kent Jonathan Neame.

The certificate was also presented to Louise by the Chair of Ash Parish Council at the Annual Parish Meeting held on 29 April.

Congratulations Louise on this well-deserved honour. Thank you for all that you do for the Parish!
