Forgot to post this back in May.
Thank you Andrew Crouch and Phil Underhill for replacing this gate post at the back of Ashton Close, moving the handrail and cutting the hedge back.

Super job, we're an effective bunch of Councillors!

The Millenium Pond. The Parish Council had a gentlemen's agreement to use this area as a Parish amenity.

As the field is in the process of being sold, yesterday, members of the council removed the kissing gate, fenced the access. And took away the bench and signage. The Pond is actually dry anyway. Please do not use this space anymore as it is private property.

We will be repurposong the bench. We thought about outside the village hall next to the road, for a walker to take a rest. It will need concreting in so give us a moment.

Many thanks to The House family at Southtown for letting us use this space over the last of couple decades.

It's coming to the time of the year when the Duke of Edinburgh awards scheme will be offered in school.

If your child is searching for a volunteering role there is always lots of village maintenance to do

Dean Fry will be helping cut the hedge at the park and church yard, litter picking and painting the fingerpost at Rapps, if your child would like to join him (not on the fingerpost paint, this is strictly for a child with an irresponsible parent). Then please let us know, we'll be happy to sign them off.

Great news for families in Yeovil. From today (1 August) to 31 August, all 5-to-15-year-olds will travel free on participating buses across England, as part of the Government's Kids Go Free scheme.

With new research from Moneysupermarket showing that over a third of Brits aren't taking a summer holiday this year, and most saying it's down to money, this couldn't come at a better time. Families here don't need to go far to have a great day out, and this makes it easier to afford.

I'm pleased Somerset Council is working with local bus operators to bring this to Yeovil and the surrounding area. With under-5s already travelling free and the £3 adult fare cap in place, it's a great chance to visit places across our wonderful county without worrying about the cost of getting there.

Make the most of it this August.

Another bit of tidying up instigated by a report to the Parish Council. Slippery footpath towards A358.

Used to be a Somerset Council job now left to locals. Actually undertaken by a Parish farmer free of charge.
