This morning, we celebrated our Children's Services colleagues at our Great Practice Breakfast, recognising those who put children and young people at the heart of everything they do, every day.

Our Great Practice colleagues were nominated for the difference they've made to local children, young people and families. We are incredibly proud of how our nominees embody our Heart of Support Practice Approach and our 5 Cs: Conversation, Curiosity, Collaboration, Courage and Compassion.

Here are just a few of the nominations:
🩷 Jacki, Children with Disabilities Intervention Worker was nominated for our Courage award: "Jacki has courage in advocating for her children, parents, and keeping the children at the heart of her practice."

🧡 Nat, Senior Practitioner was nominated for our Collaboration award: "Nat's relational approach enabled social care involvement to end successfully within a relatively short period."

💛 Leanne, Social Worker was nominated for our Curiosity award: "Leanne's curiosity, persistence and willingness to act on her concerns led to potentially saving a life."

💚 Rosie, Family Help Lead Practitioner was nominated for our Conversation award: "Rosie has made a significant impact in her first four months with the service, settling into the team seamlessly. She consistently builds positive, trusting relationships with young people."

🩵 Jenny, Education Welfare Officer was nominated for our Compassion award: "Through her child-centred approach, strong partnership working and commitment to ensuring the child's voice was heard, she successfully supported continued education and transition to a new school."

We're privileged to have them be a part of Team Tameside, thank you for everything you do!

A child in your community could be waiting for someone just like you💚

Every child deserves to feel safe, supported and loved. Foster carers make that possible every single day.

If you've ever thought about fostering, even for a moment, come along to Stalybridge Street Fest and chat with people who are already doing it. They'll answer your questions, share their experiences and help you understand what's involved.

🗓️ Friday 11 September 2026
⏰ 5pm to 7pm
📍 Stalybridge Victoria Market Hall

You don't need to have all the answers. You just need to start the conversation.

Most people don't realise they already have what it takes to be the difference.

Residents in Hyde and Ashton are continuing to make the most of the improvements brought by our Eco Streets project 🌱🌶️

From colourful mosaic house numbers and community planters to improved waste and recycling facilities, the project has helped create shared spaces that residents can enjoy, with some even growing their own fruit and vegetables!

Thanks to the fantastic work of Groundwork Greater Manchester and the residents, these alleyways and spaces have been transformed✨

Last week, we caught up with residents to hear how they're finding the improvements, what's working well, and whether any additional support is needed. It was great to see the appreciation and pride for their spaces 💚

We’re pleased to announce the launch of the new Education, Health and Care (EHC) Hub for Tameside.

The EHC Hub is a secure digital platform that brings together families, professionals, and education settings to manage Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) assessments, plans, and reviews more effectively. It improves collaboration, transparency, and communication while helping teams stay on track with statutory timelines and focus more on supporting children and young people.

The first phase of the Hub will be available from 1 September. Schools, settings, parents, and carers will be able to submit requests for EHC assessments and access up-to-date information on the progress of those requests*.

As we transition existing plans to the Hub, annual reviews will also be managed and monitored through the platform. We will keep schools, settings, parents, and carers updated as existing EHCPs are added to the Hub.

Find a link to the Hub in the comments!👇

*Only requests submitted through the EHC Hub from 1 September will have progress tracking available.

“Bringing healthcare closer to home.”

The Pride in Place Impact Fund is helping to deliver visible improvements that rebuild community pride across Tameside by March 2027.

A former shop unit in Ridgehill, Stalybridge is set to soon become a permanent GP surgery, creating better access to healthcare right in the heart of the community.

Around 16% of patients in the local Primary Care Network live on the Ridgehill Estate, yet many residents face longer journeys to reach a GP practice or pharmacy. The new facility would help tackle these barriers by providing dedicated consultation rooms, making it easier for people to access more healthcare services closer to where they live.

The plans also have the potential to grow into a future Community Medical Centre as part of the wider Tameside Live Well approach. 🏥
