ELECTRIC VAN HIRE HAS ARRIVED IN HADDENHAM - £8 an hour!

Perfect for:
- Tip runs
- Moving bulky items
- Collecting large purchases

This half term week, one of the Haddenham electric hire cars has been temporarily replaced with an electric van for Zimbl to assess local demand. The van is charged at the same cost of the car!

It's really easy to sign up and get going: you make an account on the app with just your driving license and a selfie, enter your start point and end point, then the vehicle will be delivered to your door (Zimbl bring the car to you and collect it from a different specified location like your work or home).

To book, download the Zimbl app and register for the service. When making your booking, select “waiting list” and add a note saying “van booking”.

For more information: https://zimbl.co.uk/van-hire/

Strong usage during the trial week will help show whether there is realistic demand for a Zimbl van in Haddenham. The van will go back to being a car on the 31st May so please use the service before it ends.

The van costs £8 per hour or £80 per day, the same price as other Zimbl cars!

YOUR VOICE NEEDED: DEVELOPER CONTRIBUTIONS FOR LOCAL INFRASTRUCTURE

Haddenham residents have until 23:59 tonight to pass on any comments they wish to make about the proposed Buckinghamshire Council Community Infrastructure Levy.

What is a Community Infrastructure Levy?

If a housing development is constructed that has over 100 square metres of new floorspace, the levy lays out how much money the developer has to pay towards the local authority funding the provisions, improvements, replacements, operations, or maintenance of impacted infrastructure.

Haddenham is entering the Buckinghamshire Best Kept Village competition for 2026!

The Buckinghamshire Best Kept Village Competition was founded in 1957 by Sir Francis Dashwood and the Local Councils’ Association. The Competition’s objective is to encourage villagers to work together as a community and make their areas more attractive for residents and visitors alike.

Due to the size of Haddenham’s population, we will be entering the Pushman Cup which is for rural populations of over 3000. Back in 2024 we scored 186/200, 2 points off first place, while achieving full marks in the community engagement section - highlighting the hard work of many around the village.

Haddenham will be judged on features including floral displays, community facilities, playing fields, shops, pubs, graveyards, and evidence of community engagement. The judges will be looking around the village anywhere within the months of June and July, so please help us keep Haddenham looking neat and tidy during these sunny months. Thank you.

🌿 Thank you to our hedgerow surveying volunteers.

Pictured below are some of the residents who joined our recent volunteer sessions to help survey hedgerows across Haddenham.

Hedgerows are an important part of the village’s natural environment. They provide nesting sites, shelter and food for birds, insects and small mammals. They also act as wildlife corridors, helping species move between gardens, fields, verges and other green spaces.

Healthy hedgerows can also support biodiversity by containing a variety of native trees, shrubs and flowering plants. Their structure, width, height and connectivity all influence the value they provide for wildlife.

During the sessions, volunteers carried out simple survey tasks taught on the day. These included measuring hedge dimensions, recording plant species, noting gaps, and assessing how well hedgerows connect with nearby habitats.

The information collected will help build a clearer picture of the condition of Haddenham’s hedgerows. This data can then be used to guide future work to protect existing habitats, improve biodiversity and preserve the landscape character of the village.

Thank you to everyone who gave up their time to take part.

Zimbl Announcement:

We are pleased to announce that the new age limit for drivers is now 23 years old.

If you live in the Haddenham area and were previously disappointed that (for insurance reasons only) we couldn't serve you because you were under 25. Those days are gone. If you are 23 or over, just download the Z-APP, register and get your license verified. Then book a Zimbl and freedom awaits.

In the picture, you can see a selection of our volunteers during the first hedgerow surveying volunteer dates.

Hedgerows play a vital feature throughout Haddenham by providing shelter, food, and green corridors for a wide range of wildlife. It is in everyone's interest to keep them protected.

Volunteers undertook simple tasks, taught on the day, to help assess our hedgerows - these included measuring hedge dimensions, recording species diversity, and assessing connectivity conditions.

This will help in configuring new ways to improve hedge biodiversity while gathering a strong set of data to guide decision-making so that valuable wildlife habitats and landscape characters aren't lost.

We have two more dates on the 16th and 17th May.
