!! SCAM ALERT !!

Un-invited Traders: Roofing and rendering work
Our Trading Standards and Environmental Health have received reports about unsolicited callers at residents homes within Prestwick and Girvan area, offering to carry out roofing and rendering work and claiming to be from the Council.

If someone from South Ayrshire Council visits you they will always display their ID and you should ask to see it. If you are still unsure about their identity you can telephone 0300 123 0900 and ask the Council to verify it.

Remember:
• Always take time to check who you are dealing with
• Don’t let them put you under pressure
• If you feel uncomfortable or suspicious, call Police Scotland on 101. If you feel threatened or unsafe at any time, call 999.
• All cold callers should follow official Government doorstep selling regulations

Our Trading Standards and Environmental Health team would like to remind retailers and the public that as of 20 May 2020, the sale of menthol ci******es is now banned.

Before this date, retailers should have returned existing stock of menthol ci******es to their supplier and must no longer have these for sale.
