Why is public money going to the “political” Rainbow Project?

Statement by TUV deputy leader Councillor Ron McDowell:

“This morning on the Nolan Show the Chief Executive of the Rainbow Project said out loud what many of us have known for a long time - “the Rainbow Project is a political organisation”.

“Scott Cuthbertson is not a right wing anti-LGBT activist. He is the CEO of the Rainbow Project yet those are the very words he came out with this morning.

“This obviously raises profound questions for the organisations which give them vast amounts of tax payer’s money every year including the Department of Health and the PSNI.

“Why is public money going to fund “a political organisation”?

“The Rainbow Project has long been suspect in how it operates. Its advice on drugs published online some time ago was deeply problematic. It has aligned itself with expressly political campaigning for years. But I think this is the first time a CEO has confirmed that this is “a political organisation” which is, in large measure, funded by the public purse.

“TUV will be tabling questions to all government departments in Northern Ireland today asking how much money they have given the Rainbow Project in each of the last 10 years and whether funding will continue to this political organisation.”

TUV MP Jim Allister KC, Timothy Gaston MLA, Cllr Allister Kyle and North Antrim Assembly candidate Kirk Wilson attended an event in Dervock marking the unveiling of historic murals on walls that were once blighted by graffiti.

This project is part of the fantastic work being carried out by the Community Association to enhance and improve the village, helping to create a stronger sense of pride in the local area.

Well done to everyone involved in bringing this initiative to life.

One of the murals features a quote from C. S. Lewis that seems particularly fitting for a Dervock that is transforming itself:

“You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.”

As Dervock continues its journey of renewal and regeneration, those words serve as a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when a community works together towards a better future.

Donaldson conviction - for how long was he compromised to the detriment of Unionism?

Statement by TUV leader, Jim Allister KC MP:-

The conviction of Jeffrey Donaldson for multiple sexual offences is truly shocking.

Primarily my thoughts are with his victims, but for whose immense courage and honesty, Donaldson would have continued to play out the role of ‘statesman’. Now, he stands exposed as a pe*****le.

Donaldson must be stripped of his knighthood forthwith.

However, for unionism, a very chilling and troubling issue arises, namely, how far did his ‘troubles’ give rise to his sell out on the Protocol?

To me it is inconceivable that the government was unaware of his proclivities and the idea of such being used as leverage is far from fanciful.

His about turn from ‘unalterable opposition’ to the Protocol to Protocol facilitator was telling. From sharing platforms with me and others in robust opposition, he somersaulted to lying salesmanship of the phoney ‘Safeguarding the Union’ document. Who could forget his brazen lies that the Irish Sea border was gone?

How did this come about? The fact Donaldson insisted in key meetings with HMG on being unaccompanied by colleagues raises red flags in itself. Was he on a mission of attempted self-preservation in the hope, no matter how deluded, he could stave off the fate that has now befallen him?

Yet, his then deputy, Gavin Robinson and others stood nodding in support of the dud deal Donaldson produced.

There is much here for the DUP to address. The DUP needs to own this situation. Government will vehemently deny dirty tricks - of course they will - but people are not stupid and should not be taken for fools.

I have today tabled this motion in the House of Commons:-

“That this House calls on the Prime Minister to recommend to His Majesty The King that the Knighthood of Jeffrey Donaldson, the former MP for Lagan Valley, be removed, following his criminal convictions for sexual offences.”

TUV Attend Armed Forces Day in Coleraine

TUV Leader Jim Allister KC MP, together with Causeway Coast and Glens Councillors Jonathan McAuley and Allister Kyle, were pleased to attend Armed Forces Day in Coleraine.

The event provided an opportunity to recognise the dedication, service and sacrifice of our Armed Forces, veterans, reservists and military families. It was encouraging to see such strong support from the local community for those who have served and continue to serve our country.

The TUV remains steadfast in its support for our Armed Forces and proud to stand with veterans and serving personnel on Armed Forces Day and throughout the year.

Councillor Allister Kyle Selected as Official TUV Assembly Candidate for East Londonderry in 2027!

It is time for real unionist conviction at Stormont.

Allister will provide East Londonderry with the strong, principled representation it deserves by standing firm against mass uncontrolled immigration and the erosion of our Union through the Protocol.

In East Londonderry on the 6th of May 2027 - VOTE KYLE 1 - for a Unionist you can TRUST!

In this PR Election, remember to maximize unionist strength. Transfer your remaining votes throughout the Unionist family (2, 3, 4).

TUV welcomes the Petition of Concern receiving the required 30 signatures to stop the dangerous proposal to raise the age of criminal responsibility from 10 to 14.

This move, supported by Sinn Féin, the SDLP and Alliance, would have serious consequences for victims, public safety and accountability. The TUV believes that protecting communities and ensuring that those who commit serious offences are properly held responsible, must remain a priority.

We will continue to stand up for victims, defend justice, and oppose measures that weaken the ability of the justice system to respond effectively to serious crime.

Al Carns Warning Shows Scale of Legacy Betrayal

Responding to Al Carns’s comments in Parliament today Jim Allister said:

“Al Carns’s comments in Parliament today throw into particularly stark focus the scale of the Government’s betrayal of those who served with honour in Northern Ireland. For three decades our Army stood for law and order and prevented the Province slipping into the abyss.

“Clearly Mr Carns has a recognition of the debt owed to those who served in uniform which is sadly lacking among those who have remained in cabinet. When you have a former Minister of the Crown warning that legislation risks handing the IRA a victory they were unable to achieve by way of terrorism it behoves the powers that be to stop and reflect seriously about the nature of the road which they are on.”
