๐ฟ **Tick Awareness at Banstead Commons** ๐ฟ
As you enjoy the Commons this season, itโs worth remembering that ticks are a natural part of our grassland and woodland habitatsโespecially in areas of long grass and dense vegetation.
๐งญ Stay safe outdoors
โข Stick to paths where possible
โข Wear long trousers and sleeves in higher-risk areas
โข Consider using insect repellent
๐ After your visit:
โข Check your body (ankles, behind knees, waist, armpits, scalp)
โข Check clothing and gear
โข Shower when you get home
๐ If you find a tick
โข Remove it promptly with tweezers or a tick tool
โข Pull steadily (donโt twist or crush)
โข Clean the area and monitor for symptoms
Most bites are harmless, but if you notice a rash or feel unwell afterwards, seek medical advice and mention tick exposure.
