We aim to share useful information to help you reduce waste and recycle more. We invite questions about how to reduce your waste or any of our events to help you develop skills and learn practical tips. Be respectful of others, their opinions and identities. Post content that is supportive, engaging and ask questions without upsetting

others. If you see something that doesn't seem right, or that makes you feel uncomfortable, please make us aware if you can. Our Facebook and Instagram channels are moderated Monday to Friday 9 – 5, excluding bank holidays. Should any accusations be made against a named person, event or photo, for example a member of staff at a site, or activity we have engaged in, we may remove it. If you have a complaint, please send it to [email protected]

If someone takes offence to a comment, their feelings are valid. We may decide to remove comments that could offend and our decision is final. If someone continues to cause offense, we have the right to block users from our pages. Before doing this, a warning will be issued with an explanation of the details. Like any recipe, your compost needs the right ingredients to make it work - the key is to get the right mix of “greens” and “browns”… 🥬🍂

Greens are quick to rot and they provide important nitrogen and moisture.

Browns are slower to rot, they provide fibre, carbon and also allow important air pockets to form in the mixture.

Around 50/50 of each should do the trick. If your compost is too wet and gives off an odour, add more browns. If it's too dry and isn’t rotting, add some greens. 🏡

It’s easy to think something so small won’t matter. But if we throw vapes or other battery-powered
electricals in with our general rubbish or recycling, they can get crushed and cause dangerous fires
in bin lorries and recycling centres. 🔥

Every week, over 6 million vapes and pods are thrown away in the UK. That’s 6 million items binned
when they could have been recycled.

Never bin vapes, pods or other electricals. Always recycle them separately from your household
rubbish and recycling.
