Have we told you about the work our Barnsley Parks and Green Spaces team did at Burton Grange play area? 🌿

As part of the Love Where You Live programme, the space has been refreshed with repainted play equipment, new tiger mulch surfacing and the addition of new swings, helping create a safer and more enjoyable place for families to spend time together.

We’re aware of ongoing vandalism at this site, which takes time and money to put right. We’d really like to keep this space looking its best for everyone, so please report any damage or anti-social behaviour to the Safer Neighbourhoods Team. You can find the details in the comments.

Love Where You Live is about caring for the places that matter and creating a Barnsley we’re proud to call home.

Wombwell Park Lights

Users of Wombwell Park may be aware that a number of lamp posts have been cut down. This was done by the Street Lighting Team due to the posts needing urgent removal for health and saftey, following a review of all posts in the area. They will be replaced as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding.

With the warm weather continuing, it’s a great time to be out and about in your local parks ☀️🌿

At Newstead play area in Athersley, Love Where You Live has supported improvements to access, including new paths to help create a safer route to school. New bollards have also been installed at the entrance to improve safety by reducing vehicle access.

These small but important changes help make the space safer and easier for families and children to use every day. If you’re heading out, remember to stay safe in the sun and keep hydrated 💧

Please help look after your local park by using bins and reporting any issues or anti‑social behaviour – it’s everyone’s space to enjoy.

Through Love Where You Live, we’re creating a Barnsley that feels welcoming and vibrant for everyone.
