Following the conclusion of the local election, the Reform UK Barrow and Furness Branch Committee would like to thank all the local residents who participated in the democratic process, engaged with our campaign, and shared their perspectives on the future of our community.

We extend our congratulations to Lucy Belbin on her election to the council. While the result was not what we hoped for, we remain deeply committed to advocating for accountability, transparency, and the issues that matter most to local working families.

We also wish to express our grave concern regarding the online abuse and toxic behaviour employed by fringe actors during this campaign. Straying far beyond civilised political discourse into personal attacks on candidates and their families damages our entire community. Accordingly, we call upon all local political parties to unequivocally condemn such activities and withdraw cooperation from those responsible.

MISSING A STREET SIGN?

I’ve been out around Hawcoat and Newbarns and noticed quite a few street name signs are missing, damaged or have simply disappeared.

Some roads appear to have no visible name at all.

Not ideal for residents, visitors, delivery drivers and potentially emergency services trying to find an address.

I’ve started making a note of the ones I find, but I could do with your help.

If there’s a missing or damaged street sign near you, please send me a message with the road name and, if possible, a photo.

I’ll start putting a list together and make sure they’re reported.

We're planning improvements to Abbots Vale Playground in Barrow - join us at the playground on Monday 24th August between 2.30pm and 4.30pm to share your ideas. The existing playground is ageing and worn, and we want to create a more inclusive space that offers exciting play opportunities for all children.
