Hi, I'm Amy and today, I’m asking for your vote to be a strong local voice for Pen-y-bont Bro Morgannwg in the Senedd πŸ’š

I’m standing because I want a future where our communities thrive, our rivers and beaches are protected, and people can actually afford to live well.

If you want:
πŸ’š No sewage in the sea around Barry Island
πŸ’š Clean water in the River Ogmore
πŸ’š Β£1 bus fares and better public transport
πŸ’š Green jobs for Bridgend and the Vale
πŸ’š A rent freeze to help with the cost of living
πŸ’š Real action for nature and green spaces
Then vote Green today.

This election is incredibly close. Under the new voting system, the final seat in Pen-y-bont Bro Morgannwg could come down to a tiny number of votes between the Greens, Reform and the Conservatives.

Your vote really can make the difference today.
I’ve spent this campaign speaking to people across Bridgend and the Vale who are fed up with pollution, rising costs and politics as usual. I believe we can do things differently, and better.

Polls are open until 10pm. Bring your friends, and let’s make history together.

Vote Green 🌱

Residents around the docks in Barry have been reporting wood dust on their cars for the last few months. If the dust is on their cars and the ground, it’s in the air we are breathing.

Residents deserve clean air without pollution!

"Nobody should have to put up with their lungs, homes and cars filling with dust"

A message from Aoife Blight ahead of the Illtyd by-election.
β€œIt's by-election week and here are some reasons why I think you should vote green.
I love living in Barry, shopping locally and bringing our community together through positive action.
I'm so proud of my work with Kidical Mass Barry, bringing families together to call for safer walking, wheeling and cycling infrastructure. I'm so proud that I've proactively worked with the council to install cycle storage at some of our brilliant local amenities (the RTM Skatepark, throughout Romilly Park, and the break water beach at Friar's point).
But I'm most proud of the work I've done to bring Play street to my street and introduce it to the Vale. The community we've built around that gives me hope for communities everywhere.I've done all this just as a local citizen. If I were elected as a councillor I would spend my time and energy creating more positivity, looking for solutions rather than blaming other parties for the problems that exist. I've proven that we can create so much good if we work together.
If you want to see more of this positive action then please vote green in the Illtyd By-election on September 11th.”

Aoife Blight
Green Party Candidate for Illtyd by-election

Aoife Blight has been an active member of the Barry community since moving here in 2014.
Aoife has organised beach cleaning, walking and cycling events and has worked with the Vale of Glamorgan council and charity, Play Wales, to bring Play Street sessions to the Vale. Thanks to her efforts these sessions are now spreading in Barry. She is a parent governor at Romilly Primary school and is active with Barry 6th Beavers.
Aoife cares deeply about the opportunities that should be provided for the future generations of Barry children and young people. If elected she would work to create safe engaging spaces for young people to develop and thrive. She cares about equity and access for all and keeping inclusion at the heart of decision making.

She would work collaboratively with community groups and residents to work for and with them to create the change they want to see in their local area.

In giving the Israeli Government impunity to break international law, the UK, US and others have enabled a genocide, failed to secure the release of the hostages, escalated the fighting and put the entire region at risk.

The diplomacy of phone calls and statements is not enough. To end this horrific violence, we need more direct measures including an end to arms sales, the introduction of divestments, boycotts and sanctions, prosecutions for all those who have committed war crimes and a plan for a viable Palestinian state.

The same child is in both photos. The only difference is how they're dressed.

As we approach shorter daylight hours, whether you walk, cycle, use public transport or drive, make sure you can be seen.
