| Joint working with our neighbours in Hertfordshire has seen two stolen vehicles returned to their owner.

Our Beds Rural Crime Action Team - RCAT (RCAT) team got new information from the Herts Police Hitchin Neighbourhood Policing team which led to the seizure of a stolen vehicle and a second vehicle in Luton. They were linked to anti-social behaviour & criminality in North Hertfordshire.

The next day, RCAT tracked down a second stolen vehicle - an ATV - which had been stolen two days earlier from Hertfordshire. It's now been returned to a very happy owner.

It's part of continuing co-operation between the forces, sharing information and intelligence to prevent and detect crime, and carrying out joint patrols to recover stolen property, and catch offenders.

**Rural Crime Action Team**

RCAT officers are now trained to carry out Fi****ms licensing grant visits for new applicants across Bedfordshire. This work compliments the team's rural crime responsibilities, strengthening engagement with rural communities while supporting the safe and responsible ownership of fi****ms. The purpose of the Rural Crime Action Team carrying out this training is to improve efficiency and resilience across Beds, Herts and Cambs under Operation Grant. This will give greater flexibility in managing demand across the three counties.

| Last week we were telling you about Auror – a retail crime intelligence platform designed to link shop-lifting offences and help us arrest persistent offenders.

This week has seen another success with a suspect charged with 24 offences in and around Bedford with thefts worth hundreds of pounds between April and July. She will appear in court next month.

Auror collates intelligence and is used by hundreds of retailers nationwide. It has now been brought to Bedfordshire. It means retailers can contact officers more effectively with evidence of offending.

The platform then links incidents, building a profile of persistent offenders and building cases against them.

We know retail crime is a concern for local communities and this is one more tool in our campaign to bring the criminals to justice.

| The hot weather means that demand on our services is exceptionally high.

Yesterday our control room took well over 1600 calls – almost 500 of them on the urgent 999 number.

Please bear in mind the pressure that call operators are working under, and treat them with the respect you’d expect to receive.

They will be prioritising calls, so if yours is not urgent, there may be a delay.
