It was a pleasure and privilege tonight to represent the Mayor of Bexley at the 2026 Bexley Voluntary Excellence Awards in the company of local MPs Daniel Francis and Abena Oppong-Asare.

This annual event, hosted by Bexley Voluntary Service Council, celebrates Bexley’s amazing volunteers, and tonight awards were presented in 7 categories.

Congratulations to all nominees, and to the award winners whose service to Bexley is truly outstanding.

Last night at Bexley’s Annual Council my good friend, colleague and former Deputy Mayor, Cllr Lisa Jane Moore, was elected 62nd Mayor of the London Borough of Bexley.

A fantastic achievement - looking forward to supporting her over the next 12 months! 👏👏👏

I was honoured to be asked to deliver a keynote speech at the Civic Recognition Awards tonight - held jointly, for the first time, with the award of the Borough’s Representative Deputy Lieutenant’s certificates.

This special event was very well supported by the families, friends and colleagues of award winners, as well as cross party Councillors.

It was truly humbling to hear about the achievements of the award winners, who really do represent the best of Bexley.

Congratulations to you all!! 👏👏👏

A letter of thanks from Kemi Badenoch and a retirement card (!) conclude my term of office as a Bexleyheath Ward Councillor.

Wishing my Ward colleagues Bola Carew and Rags Sandhu and all
the other Conservative candidates every success tonight. 🤞🤞

As I prepare to stand down as a Bexley Councillor, my final ‘duty’will be as Counting Agent supporting the local election tomorrow night. With 17 Wards and more candidates than we’ve ever had before, it’s going to be a very long night!

Along with my colleagues Rags Sandhu and Bola Carew it’s been a real privilege to support the residents of Bexleyheath Ward and be part of Bexley’s governance.

Your vote tomorrow is very important so please do use it to vote Conservative and return your existing Conservative Ward Councillors to the Council. They could not work harder for you and are genuinely committed to improving Bexleyheath and local services.

There are 13 candidates for 3 seats in Bexleyheath Ward in this local election so please vote for and return your current Conservative Councillors so they can continue to support you. Unlike candidates from other political parties, they both have the knowledge and practical experience to effectively support residents and further improve their Ward, so please do vote for them both!

Reflecting on 2025 - the second half of my Mayoral term.

It was a special year for our borough and I was honoured to have the opportunity to celebrate Bexley’s 60th anniversary as a London borough with a new ‘diamond shaped’ topiary at Hall Place, and to mark Danson Park’s centenary with a new ‘Charter Oak’ bench.

A unique wooden plaque, carved by Liam Redmill, a very talented volunteer at the Clearing, Lesnes Abbey, was also commissioned to mark both these anniversaries as well as the dissolution of the Abbey 500 years ago.

2025 was indeed a very special
year!
