FOBP & Bingley Harriers are taking over the Park Run this Saturday, 13th June. Come along and walk, Run or just support us and our campaign to SAVE BINGLEY POOL.
We will have a stand at the bandstand for you to come and chat to our trustees and supporters about recent positive developments and see some of the entries for our Schools Art Competition. See you there!

Published Today - Our Plan to Reopen Bingley Pool

https://savebingleypool.wordpress.com/2026/06/03/published-today-our-plan-for-bingley-pool/

The document builds on everything that we’ve learned over the years about the political, economic, and strategic case for the pool.

It will be presented to district councillors at a meeting of the Bingley Town Council Project Working Group, this Thursday 4th June, 6.30pm. The meeting is open to the public and will be held at the Town Council Hub, Myrtle Place.

If you want to know how swimming can be brought back to Bingley, head to our website to read the plan in full or take in the highlights.

Thanks for all your support!

SAVE BINGLEY POOL!
Primary Schools Poster Competition

A fun, creative community project for all primary pupils in Bingley.

We have launched a competition and invited all prmary schools in Bingley to design posters for our "Save Bingley Pool!" campaign. There will be prizes and various categories and posters will be printed and posted in businesses and community areas throughout the town. We are also hoping to put some designs onto T Shirts.

We want the children of Bingley to express through art what having a pool in Bingley would mean for them - fun, events, lifesaving skills, fitness, being part of the Swimming Club, etc.

Bradford Council Elections 2026
The local elections are just around the corner. Several local parties and candidates have specifically referenced their support for the pool in their election literature. We're glad to see that Bingley Pool is still a live political issue. However, what we need is councillors who will keep fighting for the pool once elected, not just before the ballot.
It is encouraging to see that the three Labour candidates have recently indicated their support for the Friends of Bingley Pool and the campaign to save Bingley Pool.
These election pamphlets set out a commitment to work alongside the Friends group and Bingley Town Council’s Pool Working Group to help secure a sustainable, long-term future for the pool — a position that most (but not all) of our present councillors, our MP, and community campaigners have been actively advancing for quite some time.
They will be welcomed by the Friends group and Bingley Town Council, alongside existing councillors who have already demonstrated consistent and practical support for saving the pool.
We now look forward to seeing these commitments followed by clear and meaningful action.
Friends of Bingley Pool can guarantee that we will hold all elected representatives of Bingley to account. We expect them to fully support our proposal going forward.

NOW RECRUITING - PUBLIC CAMPAIGN CHAMPIONS...
We are looking for residents who are as passionate as us about getting the pool back to operational status, for swimming, leisure and community. All our work so far has led us to think it's a realistic goal, if we can keep the building from being sold...
We already have a team of Champions who are working with us to create public events, to raise awareness of our campaign to convince Bradford Council to not sell the pool and to work with us, to raise the profile of our campaign and to gain publicity and support for future grants and fundraising.
Have you got:
- some time to spare - as much or as little as you can!
- ideas and skills - in any areas!
- a passion to work with our Public Campaigns Group to ensure we run a high profile, exciting campaign which engages all of the community and makes an impact at City Hall and beyond.
Get in touch with us at [email protected], or PM us here. We would love to hear from you and the more the merrier!

How much would a Bingley pool refurb cost?
We've been told £14m, £18m, even £20m. But Bradford Council's own documents show that, in 2021, £4.25m would have brought the pool back to life.
Inflation and contingency would also be needed, but we're convinced that this is achievable with political will and committed fundraising.
