A great result for the first week, thank you to those residents who are embracing this positively, quietly getting on with it and recognising the environmental benefit, you are many !
The collection vehicles run on HVO ( Hydrotreated vegetable oil ) thatβs basically synthetic diesel derived from waste fats and oils.
Well, that's the end of our first week of food waste recycling, and we're in awe!π

This is the first small step into helping make a big difference to the world we love and live in. Keeping 30,500kg away from landfill this week has gone someway in reducing harmful greenhouse gasses and is a 100% improvement over this time last week. π
As and added bonus, enriched fertilizer will go on and help grow the food that feeds us tomorrow!π₯π
