As a result of capital funding into our library service, we are investing in the future of Small Heath Library.

These major works are due to start late Autumn 2026 and are an exciting step forward in our plans to modernise our library service through enhancing facilities, reducing our environmental impact, and upgrading health and safety measures.

Work at Small Heath Library will include upgrading heating and LED lighting, replacing ceiling tiles and windows, as well as redecorating staff areas.

We understand that it provides a vital, warm and welcoming space for the local community. So while it will be closed during these works, Sparkhill and South Yardley libraries will be open additional hours to minimise their impact.

For more information on updated opening hours, visit: https://www.birmingham.gov.uk/libraries

We will continue to provide the local community with regular updates, and the timeline for these works will be shared in due course.
