RSA Summer Fest 21

20/07/2021

Dear Parent/Carers

Please be advised ahead of tomorrows Summer Fest for those pupils participating to keep safe in what is set to be a very hot day.

Top Tips:
1. ensure your child has applied sunscreen and has it to hand should they need to top up during the day.
2. Drink plenty of water to keep hydrated - bring a refillable water bottle
3. Wearing a hat is also advisable in such heat
4. Sports wear T-shirt and shorts advised
5. Small amount of money for the Ice Cream van

We hope the day is fun and is the highlight of what has been a difficult year.

Happy Summer Holidays to you all
Miss Deacy

Yesterday saw the DT team take the first large trip out post COVID to Stratford Upon Avon’s Mechanical Art and Design Museum.

The Y10 students had been looking forward to the trip and it linked well with the mechanical project they had been working on in lesson. Students had the opportunity to experience and interact with a range of machinery and models up close.

Conduct and behaviour was exemplary and all students engaged well with the exhibits, the feedback was extremely positive and a great day overall was had.

Dear Parent/Carer,

We are experiencing a spike in positive lateral flow and PCR tests within our local community, which is unfortunately now resulting in a very small minority of our school community being affected. We will continue to work with Public Health and notify all close contacts of positive cases to self-isolate. All our strict hygiene measure remain in place and face masks are compulsory in all communal areas.

Can I please ask you to ensure your son/daughter takes a lateral flow test tonight before coming in to school tomorrow instead of Wednesday evening. If that test is positive, please inform the school and please take your son/daughter for a PCR test. If this PCR test is negative, then they are free to return to school.

If you son/daughter experiences any corona virus symptoms you must keep them away from school and take them for a PCR test.

As we approach the end of term, I want to do all that I can to ensure there is minimal impact to the start of the school holidays for families.

Thank you in advance for your continued support.

Hi everyone!
As part of our school initiative to improve reading culture and skills for all students, we are asking students in all year groups to take part in a Summer reading challenge. Letters have been sent home with all of the details and there is an electronic copy saved in your English Teams page and on the school website.

To enter, you need to read books from the poster and complete 'bingo'. For students in Y7+8 this needs to be one of the patterns on the poster. For students in Y9+10 this needs to be reading at least one texts per category. You can use books from a library, books you have at home, myON or any of the other links on the poster. Once you're done, fill in this forms page: https://forms.office.com/r/VxhMhhkDnq. The winner will be announced in September.

Good luck 🙂

Dear Parents/Carers,

In response to several student requests, and to celebrate England getting to the final of the European Cup last night, we are celebrating with ‘Football Fan Friday’ this Friday 9th July 2021.

Students may wear a top (normal school trousers and skirts still to be worn) that is either:

Red.
White.
A sports top of any kind.
Their PE kit top.
Their normal school shirt without a tie or blazer.
A football shirt of any colour.
Or their normal school uniform.

Normal lessons will continue in line with the students curriculum.

Apologies in advance for the short notice however after a difficult year for all members of our community we wanted to capitalise on this moment of national celebration and mark this rare occasion with students.

Kind regards,

Helen Tanner
Principal
