(No to the looting of oil and gas to fund militias and political parties—while war and poverty are inflicted upon the citizens of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region)

At a time when our natural resources—especially oil and gas—are being plundered with revenues diverted to line the pockets of political parties fund militias and sustain conflicts the citizens of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region are facing unprecedented poverty unemployment and a severe lack of basic services.
This unjust situation is no longer acceptable.
We, as the Regay Azadi Organisation a political advocacy organisation for human rights, call upon all activists ,journalists,writers, human rights defenders,women,youth,and all Kurds residing in the UK to join this peaceful protest. Let us raise our voices in dissent and pressure the authorities to restore our usurped rights.

Our Demands:

Immediate halt to the looting and wastage of oil and gas.
Transfer of all oil revenues to the public treasury to be spent on the welfare of citizens.
Cutting the budgets of political parties and militias, and redirecting those funds toward livelihoods and development.
Combating corruption and bringing the corrupt to justice.
Securing a decent and fair standard of living for all citizens.

The birth of Muhammad ﷺ was not a simple turn of a calendar page; rather, it was a cognitive explosion and the greatest philosophical turning point that shook an age of oppression and carried humanity from illusory servitude toward true freedom.

Seminar in Birmingham on Media and Freedom of Expression

Regay Azadi Organization held a seminar in Birmingham focusing on media, freedom of expression, and human rights in the Kurdistan Region.

With the participation of Kamarán Othman from CPT, field information and statistics on the situation of the media, freedom of journalism, and human rights were presented. Participants also had the opportunity to discuss these topics and share their perspectives.

Regay Azadi Organisation Holds an Important Seminar on the State of Media and Freedom of Expression in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq

Continuing its activities aimed at raising community awareness and advocating for democratic values, the organization hosted a comprehensive seminar today in Birmingham (West Bromwich).
The event was attended by organisation members activists and members of the Kurdish diaspora with the aim of discussing the current state of media and freedom of expression in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
The seminar was presented by Mr. (Kamaran Osman) a representative of the American CPT (Community Peacemaker Teams) organization for human rights in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

The discussion shed light on the challenges and violations facing journalistic freedom and the right to express differing opinions in the region.

Participants discussed in detail the lack of a safe environment for media work and the necessary role of legal and governmental institutions in protecting these fundamental rights.

During the event, strong emphasis was placed on the following key points:

The necessity of respecting freedom of expression and journalistic work as a foundational pillar of a democratic society.

Putting an end to the arrest and sentencing of journalists and activists for expressing their views

Deploying transparent legal mechanisms to hold violators accountable.

At the conclusion of the seminar, an open discussion was held between the participants and the presenter, with attendees expressing a strong desire for such activities to continue in order to achieve a free and just society.

١. پێکهێنانی لیژنەی لێکۆڵینەوەی سەربەخۆ: دەستبەجێ خستنەڕووی تەواوی فایلە شاردراوەکان و تۆماری کامێراکان لەژێر چاودێریی لایەنێکی بێلایەنی نێودەوڵەتیدا.
٢. فشاری دیپلۆماسی لە بەریتانیاوە: داوا لە وەزارەتی دەرەوەی بەریتانیا، پەرلەمانی بەریتانیا و ڕێکخراوە نێودەوڵەتییەکان دەکەین گوشاری جددی بخەنە سەر دەسەڵاتدارانی هەرێم بۆ دادگاییکردنی تاوانباران.
٣. ڕاگرتنی هەڕەشە لەسەر بنەماڵەی شەهید: کۆتاییهێنان بەو فشار و بەدواداچوونە ئەمنییانەی کە تا ئێستاش لەسەر خێزان و بنەماڵەی وەدات حوسێن بەردەوامییان هەیە.

Statement by Regay Azadi Organisation – UK, on the Tenth Anniversary of the Assassination of Journalist (Wedat Hussein Ali)

Today, 13 August 2026, Regay Azadi Organisation commemorates, with deep pain and concern, the tenth anniversary of the assassination of journalist and Roj News correspondent Wedat Hussein Ali.

On 13 August 2016, Wedat Hussein was abducted in broad daylight (at approximately 9:30 am) in the Malta neighbourhood of Duhok, and his body was found several hours later on the Duhok–Semel road. Ten years on from this crime, the continued impunity and deliberate obstruction of justice in the Kurdistan Region stand confirmed.

Documented and established facts of the case:
Concealment of CCTV footage: According to field reporting by Human Rights Watch https://www.hrw.org/news/2016/08/25/iraqi-kurdistan-kurdish-journalist-abducted-killed , security agencies in Duhok refused to release surveillance camera footage from the abduction site in the Malta neighbourhood — clear evidence of an attempt to conceal the perpetrators' vehicle route and prevent identification of the culprits.
Documentation of brutal torture: According to official documentation from Amnesty International https://www.amnesty.org/en/documents/mde14/4764/2016/en/ and forensic medical reports, Wedat Hussein's body bore signs of extremely severe torture, including broken hands, legs and ribs, as well as bodily lacerations and severe blows to the head — confirming a targeted and deliberate assassination.
Background of security threats: International human rights organisations have documented that prior to his assassination, Wedat Hussein had been summoned multiple times by Duhok security agencies and threatened to cease his journalistic work with Roj News.

To this day, the killers and those commanding this crime remain free. The case of Wedat Hussein is an inseparable part of the ongoing chain of political assassinations in the Kurdistan Region aimed at silencing free voices.

Regay Azadi Organisation reaffirms the following demands:
Establishment of an independent investigative committee: Immediate disclosure of all withheld files and CCTV footage under the oversight of an impartial international body.
Diplomatic pressure from the UK: We call on the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), the UK Parliament, and international organisations to exert serious pressure on the Regional authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice.
End to threats against the victim's family: An end to the ongoing security pressure and surveillance that continues to be directed at the family of Wedat Hussein.

We honor the memory of Wedat Hussein and all victims who lost their lives in defense of freedom and truth.
