Rovers Veterans FC

⚽️ Today, our Veteran football team hosted The Royal Tank Regiment Veterans FC (RTR) in a 7 aside friendly in the BRIC. A really good, fast pace game of football with RTR coming out 7-4 winners.

🔵⚪️ After our fixture, both teams headed over to the stadium to watch Rovers face Cardiff City in the Sky Bet Championship.

🤝 We would like to thank RTR for travelling up to play our team today. We hope you have enjoyed it and look forward to catching up again soon. Well done to both teams for a great game of football. We would also like to thank Blackburn Rovers for providing the veterans match tickets to be able to watch the game, enabling us to strengthen our new friendships and rediscover that camaraderie we had when serving.

🏆 Victory on our return to the NWMVL 🏆

⚽️ Today our Veterans returned to the FA Northwest Military Veterans League for the 2026/27 season having sat last year out. Today’s opponents were Morecambe FC Community Foundation Veterans and we knew they are a strong opposition.

Morecambe took the lead early on but Rovers levelled the game from the penalty spot. Another 2 great goals seen us lead 3-1 at half time.

The second half started well but both teams struggled to capitalise until Rovers found another well worked goal to make it 4-1. Morecambe did manage to get a goal late on but the lads seen it through to finish the game 4-2 winners.

Well done team and thanks to our opponents Morecambe for a great game of football. Onto the next 🔵⚪️

⚽️Great day of football today in Fylde. As expected, some really tough opponents coming up against the serving teams of the Lancs. We finished our group with 1 win and 3 losses. We of course do not want to lose games but it’s all about the camaraderie and connecting with serving members/veterans in the Armed Forces community.

🏆 Congratulations to 1 Lancs B on winning the tournament and a big thanks to The Duke Of Lancaster's Regiment for having us over.

🚀 Special mention to Scotty C for his goal from our own box (good clearance mate 😏) well done to all involved. Onto the next….

🤝Yesterday, some of the Veterans travelled to Wales to take on Wales Armed Forces Veterans FC in an 11 aside friendly at Colliers Park.

⚽️Wales are an established international veterans team who are due to play in the Veterans World Cup, so it was going to be a big challenge from the start.

Wales came out on top 6-3 winners but the lads should be proud of their performance, especially with being so inexperienced playing together in this format. Some very good football from both teams in what was an enjoyable fixture to watch.

Well done to all involved and a big thank you to Team Wales for hosting us. We look forward to meeting up with Wrexham Armed Forces Veterans soon.
