🟠⚠️ An Amber Heat-Health Alert has been issued across the Midlands and southern England, with a Yellow Heat-Health Alert in place across Yorkshire and northern England. These alerts will be in place until Sunday 12 July.

We are very disappointed to see further damage at the Village Hall Play Area. We understand this may be as a result of young people trying to retrieve footballs from neighbouring land which has recently been fenced for development. There is a stile behind the goal which allowed access to the field for this purpose. If balls can't be retrieved using the stile any more, then unfortunately the developer needs to be contacted to get them back. Pulling down this fencing is not an appropriate alternative. If this behaviour continues we will need to consider closing the play area.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service is urging residents and visitors to take extra care near open water, and we fully support this advice for your safety.

Fire and rescue services across the country have recently attended incidents where people have got into difficulty in water, some with devastating consequences, as highlighted in the national news.

🔴 A red heat-health alert is in place for the South East from 1am on Wednesday 24 June to 11pm on Thursday 25 June.

Very high temperatures are expected, including overnight. This level of heat can seriously affect people’s health, including those who are usually fit and well.
Older people, young children and people with health conditions may be more affected, so please take care and check on anyone who may need support.

You can help keep yourself and others safe by:

☀️ Staying out of the sun during the hottest part of the day
💧 Drinking plenty of water
🏠 Keeping your home as cool as possible
👒 Taking water, sun cream and a hat if you need to go out
🚗 Checking before travelling and taking extra water with you
🌊 Taking extra care near the coast, rivers and open water
👥 Checking on friends, family and neighbours who may need support

Celebrating Sussex Day - pride, heritage and community. Every year on 16 June, communities across East and West Sussex come together to celebrate Sussex Day.

The Annual Meeting of Electors is being held on 26th May 2026 - if you've never been before, it's an informal and informative hour long meeting where we report on what we've done on behalf of residents during the year, and set out our plans for the future.
