What a brilliant afternoon! The weather finally behaved itself for when we set up stall at the .

Highlight of the day was when someone took some of our postcards of popular filming locations and said "Oh we didn't know about those parks, we'll go visit there!" - Yes! 😁👏

And watch this space - next week we'll be drawing names of the winners of the Full Festival Passes for the Bolton Film Festival.

Just a few days to go now until the Bolton Food and Drink Festival launches this Friday 28th until Monday 31st August, on Victoria Square and surrounding civic centre.

One of the best things about working at Bolton Film Office is working with our partners, land and property owners, and local experts!

Last week, Fiona had the pleasure of a little hike (on one of the hottest days of the year - note, red faces!), taking in some of the stunning Bolton views, with Oliver from the The Woodland Trust .

Oliver and the rest of the Bolton Woodland Trust team work continuously to make sure the countryside around Smithills and Rivington are looked after, protected, and restored so that the woodlands can prosper for people to enjoy and nature to thrive.

Bolton is home to some incredible countryside and greenspaces, perfect for a hike or day out, and we welcome filming in these areas. If you are interested in filming in our countryside, please get in touch with where we can advise how you can go about this responsibly.

**LOCATION OF THE MONTH**

Our August location of the month is Victoria Square!

How many times have you walked through town without even looking up and appreciating the beauty that surrounds you? From historic buildings to rich architectural sights, lush greenery to bustling streets; it’s truly a stunning example of Bolton’s heritage and character.

But there’s more to enjoy than what simply meets the eye. Victoria Square is not only known for the Town Hall’s grand pillars or the famous steps leading up to the iconic lions, but rather, it’s recognised for its lively events and opportunities to celebrate Bolton’s charm.

In August, we're shining a light on Victoria Square because it's the Bolton Food & Drink Festival, now in its 21st year, taking place during the August bank holiday weekend. We're celebrating over 20 years of flavour, fun and family memories. This year promises even more culinary magic, mouth watering moments and experiences to make the most of.

Highlights of the food festival:

Victoria Square is also used regularly for filming too - from the iconic Warburton's advert with Sylvester Stallone running up the steps, Ewan McGregor in A Gentleman in Moscow, and Sophie Willian in Alma's Not Normal. This stunning civic square can pass as period, modern, UK or Europe.

So next time you take a walk through Victoria Square, make it your goal to look around and appreciate the timeless view of Bolton’s heritage that surrounds you.
