Today is the State Opening of Parliament, which marks the start of the second session of this Parliament.
The King set out 37 bills and the government's priorities, which include raising the excess profits levy for electricity firms, building nuclear faster, and backing Euro 2028.
Bournemouth will directly benefit from a ban on leasehold for new flats, exemption of newly built social homes from Right to Buy for 35 years, and an end to ticket touting.
And the government is increasing our resilience by investing in defence, fully nationalising British Steel, and banning state terror groups like Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps.
We're an old democracy and we've come through a lot by holding our nerve. Days like today are a reminder of our history and strength as a country.
I’m itching to focus Parliament's attention onto Bournemouth, raising your voices and stories in the Commons, and representing our amazing town!
