💛 The Yellow Iris brightens up the verges of our Welsh landscape!

With weighty vivid-yellow petals, this water-loving flower can be spotted along waterways, ponds, and in wet woodlands. Their vibrant flowers usually appear between May and August.

Native to Wales, the iris is still considered invasive due to its resilience and ability to spread - easily taking over a small pond. They have been found to cause problems in the wild, so if you’re thinking about planting it for yourself make sure you keep it contained to a plant pot!

Discover the hidden history of Trecastle’s Peatlands!

Are you keen to undertake scientific research? Come along and help investigate the stratigraphy of the bog at Y Gors and take core samples; you do not need any experience to attend.

The workshop will aim to reconstruct the landscape history of the area, using its potential of paleoenvironmental data.

This project is being supported by the sustainable development fund.

The scars left by the wildfires on Mynydd Llangattwg are clear to see.

Although the flames have gone, the danger has not. Peat is still smouldering beneath the surface, creating extremely hot ground and hidden risks that may not be visible.

⛔ Please do not visit the area. Hidden dangers remain and the site is not safe for public access.

We had a very successful day at the Cwm Porth litter picking hub launch!

With a phenomenal team; locals from the community, our Staff and volunteers working alongside Keep Wales Tidy.

The team collected 6 red bags and 4 recycling bags. A great start, but a stark reminder of the valuable work that needs doing. It’s disheartening seeing the amount of litter in our precious green spaces.

Visitors are encouraged to get involved!
📍 You can find litter picking equipment at the board and take them along on your walk. Why not make a day of it and see how much litter you can pick?

⏰ The Litter Picking Hub will be open from 8.00am – 16.00pm everyday 😊

Our Wardens have been working tirelessly to help supress the fire on Llangyndir.

The work that our fire services are undertaking is invaluable.

You can help us to protect our wildlife by not starting fires or having BBQs. If you see a fire, call 999.

🚶🏽‍♀️ Many upland paths in the National Park have developed due to recreational use. The majority of these paths have become heavily eroded over time, particularly in areas where they are on steep slopes or cross peatlands.

The erosion of footpaths can damage habitats, as well as the peatlands that they cross. Our project undertakes the repair of these paths and aims to reduce erosion. We want to allow our peatlands to heal, avoiding further carbon emissions and protecting the historic environment.

Our goal is to improve the ecological resilience of our land in the face of climate change.

How do we undertake path repairs?
👷🏼 Experienced, skilled contractors carry out this work.
👣 We ensure that path improvements are as unintrusive as possible.
🪨 Locally sourced stone is used whenever possible.
🌿 Minimising disturbance to existing flora and fauna.
🐦‍⬛ No work is undertaken in the bird breeding season!
🚁 Airlifting materials to site where necessary, to avoid damaging the ground.

⚠️📢🚫Due to the wildfire in the area, Keepers Pond car park is currently closed. Emergency services are using the pond as a water source to help tackle the fire.

Despite announcing that Keepers Pond and car park are closed the Fire Service have reported people still using it.

At this difficult time, we ask that you respect our Fire Service and those helping put out the wildfires. Keepers Pond is closed for all activities and parking until further notice.

For everyone's safety, please avoid the area until further notice.

We will provide updates on the reopening of the car park as soon as more information becomes available.
