"It just feels like we're all working as one to support our complex patients."

Colleagues from the Burns Unit at Southmead Hospital and Bristol Royal Infirmary Intensive Care Unit have been working together across sites to provide specialist care wherever and whenever it's needed most.

Since coming together as Bristol NHS Foundation Trust, teams have been able to focus on delivering seamless care for patients, sharing specialist expertise and building stronger relationships between our hospitals – without the administrative barriers that previously made cross-site working more complex.

Colleagues in the Burns Unit at Southmead Hospital and the Bristol Royal Infirmary (BRI) Intensive Care Unit (ICU) have been working together across our hospitals to support patients with highly complex needs through a truly one-team approach.

The Respiratory Research team are recruiting participants to two asthma clinical trials. Both studies are commercially sponsored, and participants will be reimbursed for their time and travel.

The studies are exploring new approaches to asthma treatment, including an investigational oral medication and a more environmentally friendly inhaler propellant.

Matron for the Southmead Emergency Department, Anna Bell and Executive Producer of 'Emergency 24/7', Rachael Barnes, appeared on the Points West sofa on Tuesday night to share their experience of filming the immersive BBC series.

Important new research from St Michael's Hospital analysing more than 2.2 million UK pregnancies highlights increased risks for women with multiple long-term health conditions.

The major study published in The Lancet Public Health has found that women entering pregnancy with two or more pre-existing physical or mental health conditions face significantly higher risks of a wide range of antenatal complications.

The research, conducted across all four UK nations as part of the MuM-PreDiCT consortium, was co-authored by Dr Kelly-Ann Eastwood, Consultant Obstetrician at St Michael's Hospital, Bristol NHS Foundation Trust.

The study found that women with multiple long-term conditions had:

• More than double the risk of venous thromboembolism
• A 42% higher risk of pre-eclampsia
• A 26% higher risk of gestational diabetes
• A 20% higher risk of miscarriage
• Around four times higher risks of antenatal anxiety and depression

Importantly, the risks increased with each additional condition.

Dr Eastwood said: "Our results help define the urgent clinical challenges facing both women entering pregnancy with multiple long-term conditions, and clinicians caring for them across the UK. These findings highlight the pressing need to restructure existing maternity services to improve antenatal outcomes."

The findings will support efforts to improve maternity care, address healthcare inequalities and strengthen support for women with pre-existing mental health conditions.

Did you see our doctors on BBC Breakfast this morning talking about Emergency 24/7 – the documentary filmed in the adult regional Major Trauma Centre at Southmead Hospital NHS?

The BBC documentary starts at 9pm tomorrow on BBC Two.

Emergency Department lead consultant Jayne talked about feeling "tearful with pride for the teams she works with", the importance of reassuring the people they look after and how real the documentary feels.

Intensive Care Unit consultant Reston said he feels privileged to do his job and hopes it inspires people to see the rewarding jobs in healthcare and the value they bring.
