The Royal Marines Reserve is the volunteer reserve force used to augment the regular Royal Marines in times of war or national crisis. The RMR consists of some 750 trained ranks distributed among the four units within the UK. About 10 percent of the force are working with the Regular Corps on long-term attachments in all of the Royal Marines regular units. All the volunteers within the RMR must pass through the same rigorous commando course as their regular counterparts. The former may be civilians with no previous military experience or may be former regular Royal Marines. When you’re looking for a challenge that pushes you to your limits, you couldn’t do better than completing the world’s toughest military training – and earning that coveted green beret. As a Royal Marines Reservist you’ll be an elite member of about 600 people who combine their civilian jobs with serving as part-time, fully trained Commandos. Just like regular Royal Marines Commandos, you’ll learn to deploy your skills in any location, environment and terrain. Once you have some experience, you’ll have the chance to specialise in assault engineering, anti-tank warfare, signals and other skills, turning you into one of the most elite sources of extra military strength in the world. Have you got what it takes?

Mission: To recruit and train Royal Marines Reservists to support 3 Commando Brigade.

Eighty years of the commando. Formed by Premier Winston Churchill for special missions raiding occupied Europe after the fall of France in June 1940, commandos have always been trained to the highest standards, meeting the toughest of requirements.

Today's Commando 80 Parade may have been postponed, but we can still mark commandos past and present in this moment.

United we conquer. 1940-2020. 🗡
