Move Dance Feel Helping women affected by cancer to reconnect with themselves, through dance. Move Dance Feel is a community project for women affected by cancer.

Whatever your walk of life, we offer a creative, supportive and restorative experience. We understand that when you have cancer, or you’re supporting somebody you love with cancer, it’s a challenging time. It’s the non-stop hospital visits, the impact on confidence and self-esteem, and perhaps the loneliness of knowing that others just can’t quite understand how you’re feeling. Move Dance Feel unites women affected by cancer through dance. Guided by professionals, the project aims to help you re-discover yourself, open up to new possibilities, and find a renewed sense of joy in the body. Move Dance Feel is a registered Community Interest Company.

When we hold space, we make room for everyone’s voices.

One of the strengths of our CPD certified training programmes is learning with and from one another. We value the collective wisdom in the room, and amplify the importance of sharing knowledge across disciplines. This fuels exciting collaborations and momentum - inspiring people to keep connections and conversations going.

We have a few places left on our Introductory Training weekend, 6 - 8 November. If cost is a barrier for you, please write to us to discuss the options. See https://www.movedancefeel.com/introductorytraining for more information.

Be part of the movement! Join our 2.5 day Introductory Training next month, to learn about our ‘life-enhancing’ approach to dance and how it supports individual and collective wellbeing.

Whilst the training offers a rich and inspiring professional development opportunity, attendees often comment on how rejuvenated they feel after joining, sometimes describing the weekend as a retreat!

“The wholeness retreat stays true to its word. I feel whole in a way I have never really felt. Different layers of myself and buried emotions arose and I felt wonderfully held by the facilitators and the whole group. My perception of my cancer disease changed from an enemy to a friend - that was very profound.”

Returning to Wholeness recognises something many people living with and beyond cancer already know: wellbeing is about more than physical health alone.

The retreat’s multidisciplinary approach is what makes it so distinctive. Psychological, creative, embodied and relational forms of support sit alongside one another, providing a rich reflective and healing environment.

Whilst many participants speak about receiving good medical care during their cancer experience, they still carry big questions, unprocessed emotions and difficult experiences that have had little opportunity for attention.

The Returning to Wholeness initiative is where these dimensions of life can be explored with care, compassion and expert guidance.

Movement and somatic practices help participants reconnect with their bodies. Music, creativity and immersion in natural surroundings offer different ways of listening, opening and resourcing.

Psilocybin-assisted experiences are carefully supported by an experienced team, with time given to preparation and integration.

Together, these different approaches create something greater than any one modality alone: space for connection, deep insight and self-discovery - helping people to relate to themselves, to life, and to others in new ways.

As conversations about the future of cancer care, wellbeing and psychedelic-assisted therapies evolve, the experiences of Returning to Wholeness participants and facilitators are helping to inform and shape that discussion.

Many women arrive feeling disconnected from their bodies after the experience of cancer. Through dance, movement, and journeying with the medicine of psilocybin, they’re gently invited back into relationship with themselves - guided towards wholeness.

‘Emily’s dance sessions moved some of the very heavy emotions that felt they were weighing my body down, and although I still felt triggered by discomfort and pain, I know instinctively that movement is something that can and will take me back to myself.’

- Participant

While movement can help shift what has been carried for a long time, it also creates space for something else: joy. Joy in music, in laughter, in connection, and in feeling alive in the body.

The Returning to Wholeness offering brings together movement, creativity, community and a carefully supported psilocybin journey, creating space for women to reconnect with their bodies, their emotions and each other.

The Returning to Wholeness initiative brings together a psilocybin journey with movement, creativity, joy and community.

Created for women living with or beyond cancer, it speaks to the often unacknowledged layers of the experience - the grief, the fear, the exhaustion, the sense of disconnection that can linger long after treatment ends.

Through dance, movement, creativity, nature connection, music, song and a carefully supported psilocybin journey, participants are invited to rebuild trust, deepen awareness and allow themselves to feel more.

Across the retreat, these different modalities form an ecosystem of support, creating space to soften and slow down… to be truly seen, accepted and guided in coming home to the body.

At the heart of the retreat is a belief in the power of creativity and clinical expertise, science and lived experience, the body and the mind, vulnerability and joy, the individual and the community.

Participants speak of profound change, of meeting parts of themselves long buried, of relating to their illness in a new way and of feeling more open. A sense of wholeness found through spaciousness between thoughts, through felt compassion, through braving vulnerability and through feeling an embodied sense of aliveness.

This short film is a glimpse into some of those experiences - and into what becomes possible when women are held with care and respect.

‘Wholeness is the word that best describes the retreat. Such a wonderful feeling of love and connection created, feeling safe and being held.’

- Participant

This unique retreat is built on that belief: that beauty, intention, connection and compassion matter. That being held can be transformative. That coming home to yourself is possible.

Every detail of Returning to Wholeness is intentional. The rituals, the ceremony, the creativity, the time spent in natural surroundings, the spaces to gather and the spaces to be alone.

And at the heart of it is an exceptionally experienced facilitation team: a medical doctor specialising in oncology, a psychiatrist, a dance artist, and a sound and voice practitioner, each bringing their own expertise and experience in psychedelic retreats. Different, complementary modalities and skills, held within a shared commitment to care, creating a rich and considered ecosystem of support.

Together, they create something participants return to again and again in their reflections: a feeling of being cared for, gently held and deeply connected.

What if dance could be part of how we resource ourselves and one another as we navigate life?

It’s just one month to go until our Dance in Cancer Care: Introductory Training weekend .

This training programme brings together people from across the dance, health and cancer sectors to explore the role dance can play in supporting wellbeing, connection and community for people affected by cancer.

Across 2.5 days, we’ll learn, move, connect, reflect and recharge together, exploring how dance can support the physical, emotional, mental and social challenges that can accompany a cancer diagnosis and treatment.

You’ll join a diverse group of artists, healthcare professionals, researchers, support workers, movement practitioners and others who share a curiosity about the relationship between movement, health and care.

Penny Brohn UK, Bristol
