Finally, we have someone in the area that is willing to take on the Book Box which means that all of the books you have given us that haven’t already been taken, will have a new home not far away.

Hi, everyone. The Seafield Rd Book Box has succumbed to the ravages of seaside weather and I’m going to have to empty it while it is mended.

Is there anyone in Seafield Rd or Swinburne Avenue who would like to take over the box and its contents? I am finding it very difficult to manage now, due to my advanced years (82 last April). Hey, neighbours and friends! if you’re making some room for new books at Christmas, don’t forget the Book Box. I’ve almost run out of fiction to replace books that have been taken, particularly Sci-fi and mystery/thrillers. Now that it’s autumn(?) I expect there will be a big demand for books.

Here are recent photos of the Seafield Road Community Book Box. Please come and have a browse, take away one (or several) that interest you, and return with books you’ve read. If there isn’t room for the books you bring, I’m usually home so ring on the doorbell or leave them (in a bag to keep out the rain) near the box or my door.

Happily, Julian has mended the the cover of the book box and it is once again filled with books. Let’s hope that gales are over for a while!

Due to the recent gales, the book box cover has been damaged, so I’ve taken all the books indoors where they won’t (I hope) get wet! With any luck Julian will be able to mend the cover fairly soon.

14.01.23 - Great news!
The book box cover has been replaced. Thank you, Julian Lovegrove, for braving the wind and rain (hideous weather today!) to go out to the box, and change the plastic cover. The new cover is slightly different. Instead of the almost see-through of the previous one, it is definitely not at all see-through.
The books were getting decidedly damp because the old cover had torn itself away from its anchoring at the top and the wind was tearing at the edges, pulling it away from the velcro at the bottom.
i will be putting the books back in the box later this afternoon p, weather permitting! 😁

With the weather we’ve been having, the cover of the Book Box is looking a little sad but, good news!, the books are still in good shape. I’ll replace the cover as soon as I am able and will remove the books to safety if they are at risk of being soaked.
if you plan on getting rid of any books to make room for the great books you’ll be getting for Christmas, please bring them to the Book Box and, if there’s no room, please ring at no. 21 where I will be very pleased to receive them!🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄

I’m glad to see that the Seafield Road Community Book Box is being used! Thanks to those who have brought books to add to the box, particularly the kind man who brought a HUGE box of books, which will keep it full for weeks to come. ❤️

Hooray! The book box has been put in place and tomorrow books will be on shelves. (Waiting for the cement to harden!)
