Author Segilola Salami will be reading from her new book Yetunde: The Life and Times of a Yoruba girl in London at Downham Library on Saturday 31st October from 2.30.

“Where once the village fire was the lynchpin to the fables spoken around it and from adult to child, author Segilola Salami now uses the written word to do the same – with first novel Yetunde: The Life and Times of a Yoruba girl in London.”

Selected stories follow Yetunde as she narrates the West African tales as told to her at bedtime by her mother Iya Yetunde. There is a blend of Yoruba and English throughout the book

This Saturday at Downham Library from 12-1pm - a celebration of the work of a group of 8-11 year olds who have been writing with the poet Simon Mole. The children will perform some of their work in the gallery space on the first floor.
