This week one of our team Kyle Hardcastle gave the first of several lectures he is delivering this semester at Canterbury Christ Church University.

He delivered to bachelors and master students on the history of terrorism, how it has informed contemporary counter terrorism practice, and intelligence structures in the U.K.

The university has an amazing atmosphere and campus. It is steeped in history, with Kyle teaching in a 300-year-old classroom!

Stuart Hyde QPM Hyde will shortly be to returning to Vietnam this week to help deliver the next stage of our programme funded by the Home Office. LPC are assisting the People’s Police Academy of Vietnam to deliver training to Human Trafficking investigators on issues such as searching, intelligence and digital forensics. This is the culmination of 2 years work and we have delivered to over 300 students who range from 5 years’ experience in policing to being senior leaders.

The courses have been delivered by Mindy Mahil, Jason Fitzpatrick BSc(Hons) Fitzpatrick and Leigh Beek Beck and we have worked as a team to help the PPA. Stuart’s thanks to the team and to Nicky Arrowsmith PgCert Criminology/CJS who assisted in writing and delivering the pilot courses.

Stuart would also like to thank the UK Embassy in Hanoi and the Home Office for making this happen. There is no doubt that we are making a difference especially as we are helping officers to understand how to access and then use data from mobile devices and how to manage that data.

We have been assisted by a range of people who have contributed to the courses. During the next two weeks of training the PPA will take over the course and deliver it to officers and leaders. They have been incredible to work with and learning and development has flowed from both sides.

After the two weeks we will be conducting a two-day evaluation of the programme to date and look for lessons learnt and identify future plans.

Following the Evaluation Stuart is looking forward to delivering 4 seminars to less experienced officers, but from China, South Korea, Mongolia and Vietnam. These seminars cover UK policing models and structure, policing forensics, a cyber-attack exercise and finally a major disaster exercise. It will be a long but exciting trip with a few hours downtime. Thank you Stuart for your professionalism in representing LPC.

📣A new week and a new course!

Today marks the beginning of our Biological Hazards course tailored for students from Saudi Arabia. This course will delve into policies, response protocols, and the application of an operational learning approach - all centred around a Road Traffic Collision scenario.

We are thrilled to once again incorporate a simulated immersive environment, developed and produced by our very own Head of Immersive and Digital Learning, Kyle Hardcastle. Although the training is being delivered in London, the use of this cutting-edge technology allows us to realistically simulate an incident based in Saudi Arabia, ensuring our students receive the most realistic and hands-on experience possible.

In support of Women's Equality Day, LPC would like to share a thought from Sue WIlliams.

"Even though we have made some incredible progress with women's rights there are still challenges across the globe and we need to provide solidarity with women who do not share the same equality of rights. In the UK we still have challenges in protecting women and girls from violence and acts of misogyny. Supporting those to achieve equality and educating communities to understand how to prevent VAWG will safeguard us all."

LPC is proud to support Women's Equality Day (26th August 2024) and would like to take the opportunity to highlight one of our Associates' charities - The Sharan Project.

The Sharan Project is a registered NGO that supports South Asian Women in the UK, the charity works with women affected by issues such as domestic abuse, forced marriage, dowry, honour based abuse and other forms of harmful practices.

Established in 2008, the charity has already helped 1000's of women and their families to rebuild their lives and to move forward. They also offer advice and guidance to a wide range of professionals such as police officers, health professionals, social services and courts as well as training, workshops and Expert Witness services.

"Women's Equality Day is a poignant reminder that, whilst much progress has been made towards gender equality, more still needs to be done to end violence against women and girls.

We all have a role to play to ensure a safe and equitable future for the next generation and today is an opportunity to show your support"

If you would like to donate to Sharan click here or scan the QR card and make a difference today.

Day 6 of the Advanced Investigation and Interview Skills Course run by LPC's Johnny Mahil and Jason Fitzpatrick.

Today progression in the course included interviewing a second suspect and how we interrogate the volume of information and intelligence to support the interview planning stage.

There was good engagement from the students today and everyone seemed to be taking on board the key learning points.
