What a week, over 200 visitors welcomed for Heritage Open Days, ITV Meridian and the great news about our National Lottery Heritage Fund grant.

😍What a day we had yesterday with our open afternoon 🎉

✅We had over 200 visitors, lots of excitement about our reopening next year and plenty of interest in volunteering, plus Meridian TV filmed about it too!

🎉OPEN TOMORROW AFTERNOON🎉

As a reminder, the windmill will be open tomorrow Wednesday, 16th September from 1200-1600hrs thanks to our great band of volunteers.

The Brickworks Museum is also open and there will be a heritage bus linking the two sites thanks to Southampton & District Transport Heritage Trust

The first bus will leave the Brickworks at 1200noon and hourly until 1600hrs with the first bus returning from the windmill (a short walk away at Goslings Turning) at 1215 and the last bus at 1615.

We are looking forward to seeing you tomorrow,

Windmill, wind tunnel.....we love the work of Farnborough Air Sciences Museum in Farnborough and thoroughly recommend this.

Just one week to go until we open the doors to the historic 24' foot Wind Tunnel as part of the Rushmoor Heritage Festival!

There is no need to book and entrance is completely free. Tours run from 10am to 4pm on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th September - please meet at the Wind Tunnel itself (location on map) rather than the FAST Museum.

The FAST Museum will also be open as usual between 10am and 4pm.

Welcome to all our new followers and thank you to everyone for the love we have felt after our wonderful funding news this week.

As a reminder, the windmill will be open next Wednesday, 16th September from 1200-1600hrs thanks to our great band of volunteers.

Fantastic News for Bursledon Windmill! 🎉

We're celebrating today with the news that we've secured a £247,000 grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, paving the way for the windmill to reopen next year.

The funding supports a programme of repairs and improvements to the site including, most importantly, the reinstatement of its iconic sails.

Without this funding the windmill would have been at risk of being lost forever following the decision of the Hampshire Cultural Trust to close it to the public in 2024 through lack of funding.

The investment will also revitalise the mill so that its unique all-wooden machinery can once again produce flour from wind power, something which has not been possible for over a decade.

This is all thanks to National Lottery players.

We are also incredibly grateful to the Bursledon, Hamble and Hound Local Area Committee also supported the bid to The National Lottery Heritage Fund by allocating £25,000 in match funding.

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported the windmill over the years. We look forward to sharing updates and opportunities to get involved as the project progresses. 🌾🌬️
