Bursledon Windmill enters the digital age!

A project to bring the windmill alive and maintain access, albeit digitally, has been an innovative collaboration between windmill owners Hampshire Buildings Preservation Trust and the University of Portsmouth.

HBPT trustee, architectural designer and Heritage Consultant Sarah Roberts, joined forces with a team of students in the Computer, Games and Technology faculty. As part of their final-year project, the brief from HBPT was to produce a digital model of Bursledon Windmill.

Several visits to the Windmill have been made by the multi-disciplinary team of students who have also been researching various archives about the way the windmill operated when in full production.

Some of you who attended the recent open afternoon will have seen a version of this on the TV screen. We are waiting for final confirmation that an app is now available so everyone can enjoy the fascinating workings of the windmill.
