Now that a General Election has been announced, we'll be campaigning hard over the next 6 weeks to Independence Day!

We’re hoping you may be able to join our local team of volunteers here in Lightwater to help with leaflet delivery (and maybe more if you are willing) for a few hours each week.

How does it work?
Our leaflets come in bundles - each bundle is for a few adjacent roads and it generally takes less than an hour to deliver. We try to match deliverers with a bundle that's for their immediate area, or an area of their choice, and we get a window of about a week to get each leaflet bundle delivered. Some helpers do 1 bundle, some 2-3, and some even 4-5!
The more delivery helpers we have, and the more bundles they do, the more it frees up other people to knock on doors etc to help get Al Pinkerton elected and ensure we . It’s also a great way to get your steps in too during the long early summer evenings :)

Plus we have a great local campaign volunteer WhatsApp group that you're welcome to join, where you can keep up to date with our plans and chat with like-minded fellow residents in the village.

If you'd be interested in helping out for the next 6 weeks, or would just like to find out more about how to help drive change in our country, please send us a DM!

After concerns raised about sight lines when exiting Turf Hill carpark (thanks Laird Davison and others) and following discussions with both SHBC officers and the land owner that a previously leaning, full height fence panel sat on, a permanent fix has now been put in place with a shorter panel. This should hopefully alleviate the issue somewhat, although of course, it's always going to be a tricky junction, so please take care.

Tonight, Lightwater Borough Cllr Shaun Macdonald was elected as Leader of the Borough Council, replacing Cllr David Whitcroft who had held the position on an interim basis pending the results of the delayed Frimley Green election.

It was a shame that I had to attend tonight's Council meeting via Zoom rather than in person ( thanks, radiotherapy) but I'd like to send my personal congratulations to the new Council leader Cllr Shaun Macdonald and the Exec team, and express my deep appreciation to Cllr David Whitcroft for assuming the interim leader role and getting the new council off to such as strong start.

Huge credit to the Comms and IT team at Surrey Heath Borough Council for developing and launching a brand new SHBC website.
The new Liberal Democrat administration at the Council was elected on a manifesto promising Accountability, Community and Transparency.
With this new website we are already starting to deliver on transparency - far more information will be made publicly available, and easily searchable, than has been seen before.

Surrey Heath Borough Council is proud to announce the launch of its new and improved website via surreyheath.gov.uk. It marks an important step in making the Council more accessible, open and transparent.

The new website provides a more user-friendly experience making it easier for residents and businesses to find the information they need.

On the new site, customers will be able to access a wide range of Council services with the added benefits of:

⭐️an improved experience across different devices, such as mobile phones, tablet and desktop computers
⭐️ refreshed and easier to read content
⭐️ easier customer access to the most frequently requested services
⭐️ easier access to pay for, report and request services.

Councillor David Whitcroft, Leader, Surrey Heath Borough Council said; “We are delighted with the new website which has been produced by the Council’s Communications team so early into Surrey Heath’s new administration.

The new site is so much better to look at, superbly designed and with great illustrations of what the Borough has to offer.

Just as important, it is much more user friendly and easy to navigate. Our staff have done a great job with the new site, and we are looking forward to more exciting changes as the new Council gets into its stride after the recent elections.”

The new site is built on LocalGov Drupal. The Council worked with Invuse and Annertech and consulted with residents, Councillors and key stakeholders to create the best practice, user focused platform. The new site supports the council’s digital transformation agenda, allowing residents to confidently find the information they need.
