🚨 CAN CANTERBURY REALLY LOSE ITS CITY STATUS?

Canterbury has been a city for centuries. It is a place with a unique history, heritage and identity and now that identity could be put at risk by Labour’s sweeping local government reorganisation.

The Telegraph is reporting that Canterbury and Wi******er could face losing their historic city status as councils are reorganised and existing arrangements for charter trustees are potentially disrupted.

This should concern everyone in Canterbury.

Local government reform should be about delivering better services, better value for money and stronger local accountability, not putting our historic civic identity at risk.

Canterbury isn't simply a line on a council reorganisation map.

It is a City.

It has a proud history.

It has a unique identity.

And that should be protected.

Canterbury deserves better than being treated as an administrative afterthought.

🚨 A WARNING FROM DOVER: THE RIGHT CANNOT AFFORD TO SPLIT

Well, it happened.

For the good people of Dover, this is the worst-case scenario, and the rest of the country should be paying very close attention.

The Right won the vote. The Left won the seat.

Look at the numbers.

🟢 Green — 28.8%
🔵 Reform UK — 27.5%
🔵 Conservative — 17.1%
⚫ Restore Britain — 10.7%
🔴 Labour — 14.6%
⚪ Independent — 1.3%

Reform UK, Conservatives and Restore Britain together took 55.3% of the vote.

Yet the Greens won the councillor's seat with just 28.8%.

The winning margin?

1.3 percentage points.

That is just 34 votes.

Think about that.

The Right had a clear majority of the vote, but because that vote was split, the Greens walked away with the seat.

And this is the danger.

The Conservatives have suffered a catastrophic collapse in support, down 16 percentage points from 2023. After years of broken promises, soaring taxation and political failure, voters clearly aren't rushing back to them.

At the same time, new parties are emerging and taking votes from the traditional political establishment.

But here's the uncomfortable truth:

Every vote split on the Right makes it easier for the Left to win.

And the Left understands this.

They don't need to command a majority.

They just need the opposition to divide itself.

This result should be a massive wake-up call.

No egos.

No vanity projects.

No pretending that splitting the vote doesn't matter.

Because 55.3% of voters supported parties on the Right, yet a Green councillor was elected.

That is not a failure of Conservative, Reform or Restore voters.

It is the consequence of a divided Right.

Dover has just shown the entire country what happens when we fail to unite.

🇬🇧 If we want to change Britain, we have to stop fighting each other and start winning elections.

The message from Dover is clear:

UNITED, WE CAN WIN. DIVIDED, WE HAND THEM THE SEAT.

🇬🇧 96% SAY FOREIGN NATIONALS SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO CLAIM UK BENEFITS

A recent Express reader poll asked:

“Should foreign nationals be banned from claiming benefits in the UK?”

The result was striking:

🔴 96% — Yes
⚪ 3% — No
⚪ 1% — Don’t know

While this is a reader poll rather than a nationally representative opinion poll, it demonstrates the strength of feeling among those who took part.

The principle is simple: Britain’s welfare system should put British taxpayers first.

People who work hard, pay their taxes and contribute to our communities should not feel that the system is being stretched beyond its limits.

Reform UK believes we need a welfare system that is fair, sustainable and focused on those who have earned the right to support.

🚨 JOURNALISTS SHOULD NOT HAVE TO LIVE IN FEAR

GB News presenter Patrick Christys reportedly had to leave his home after receiving death threats following his investigation into people-smuggling gangs.

Christys travelled to Calais to investigate the criminal networks behind the small-boat crossings and says he received threats after confronting smugglers.

Reports say police subsequently warned Christys and his pregnant wife at the time, that they needed to leave their home because of the threats.

Whatever your politics, this is completely unacceptable.

People-smuggling is organised crime. Those who investigate and expose criminal gangs should not be intimidated into silence or forced from their homes.

If someone threatens a journalist because they are exposing criminal activity, it should be treated as a serious criminal matter.

A free press matters.
Free speech matters.
And exposing organised crime matters.

🇬🇧 Britain must not become a country where criminals can intimidate journalists into silence 🇬🇧
