As we head into autumn, it's a good time to start thinking about protecting yourself and your loved ones from flu.

Flu is a highly infectious respiratory illness that can cause serious complications for some people, including older adults, pregnant people, young children, and those with certain long-term health conditions. The flu virus changes every year, which is why an updated flu vaccine is offered annually.

👩‍⚕️If you're eligible for a flu vaccination, look out for information from your GP practice, pharmacy, or healthcare team.

Want to learn more about the flu vaccine, who it's for, how it works, and possible side effects? Read the official patient fact sheet here: 👉 https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/influenza-flu-vaccine-factsheet-information-for-patients-parents-and-carers/influenza-flu-vaccine-factsheet-information-for-patients-parents-and-carers

Did you know? 💡

Feedback shared with Llais highlighted that people attending diabetic eye screening couldn't easily see all available screening venues online.

We've shared those experiences with Public Health Wales and improvements are now being planned to make location information clearer and easier to access.

The proposed changes will help people:

Find their nearest screening location 📍
Consider venues with better transport links 🚌
Access clearer information before their appointment ℹ️

Have you attended a health appointment where information wasn't clear or easy to find? Share your experience with us.

Your feedback helps us highlight issues and drive improvements across Wales.

💬 Turning insight into action

Last week, we shared our report highlighting the experiences of Welsh speakers using health and social care services across Wales.

People told us that being able to speak Welsh helped them feel understood, respected and involved in decisions about their care. Others described the challenges they faced when Welsh language services weren't available.

Today, we're pleased to share that Llais has signed a new Welsh Language Pledge with the Welsh Government as part of Mwy na geiriau.

The pledge sets out how we'll work together to strengthen Welsh language provision across health and social care, support the Active Offer, and ensure the experiences of Welsh speakers continue to inform improvement.

This is an important step forward, but it's also a reminder of why listening matters. The experiences shared in our recent report will help shape the work we do through this partnership.

Everyone should be able to receive care in the language that feels right for them.
