The Hurd Library An Eighteenth Century Castle Library Created by Bishop Hurd in 1781 the library is a rare surviving example of a library that was built for its books.

Based in the former Bishops’ Palace at Hartlebury Castle, Worcestershire, the Hurd Library is a unique and wonderful example of an 18th century library. The library’s contents provide a wonderful snapshot of contemporary thinking and scholarship. The age of the books ranges from the 15th –early 19th century. rse selection of miscellaneous documents housed here at the library such as WWI scrapbooks.
