Military Section, Rockingham Steam & Country Fair

Military Section, Rockingham Steam & Country Fair Historic Military Section of Leading Steam & Country Fair dates this year are 21/22nd May 2011

The Rockingham Castle Steam & Country fair is a great day out for all the family and a terrific event for exhibitors. This page only covers the military section, but the show features steam, tractors, heavy horses, haulage, vintage cars and much much more!

I wonder what 'expert' came up with this piece of garbage 😁 Good start to 2020!

OK, this will almost certainly be my last entry here. It has now been confirmed that there will be no further Military Section, Rockingham Steam & Country Fairs nor any replacements, sad but the way these types of shows are going, very sad, without them how will the preservationists of tomorrow get 'the restoring bug'?

OK, so I am no longer the section steward, but I don't see why I shouldn't post here. I found out today (thanks to a rumour check call from Neil that prompted an email to people 'in the know') that it looks as though there will be no show at Rockingham in 2014, so its a good thing I didn't do a second (permanent) name change to this pages' address. There is a dearth of sites now (other than farmers fields which present large logistical difficulties) as they all want to do upmarket horse and country shows. If there is any further news i will let you know, but I am not expecting to hear anything positive.

Hi, Just so everyone is aware, I officially 'retired' as the MV section steward last night.

Well, the site was gorgeous, the weather was superb. We had the usual 'behind the scenes' problems, including a problem with the toilets which was resolved overnight with only a few hours to spare. Our area was quiet, I think that was the positioning of it, however I was very disappointed by a) the people who didn't turn up and haven't apologised, b) the people who booked say 3 vehicles and booked 2 and then arrived with the two smallest, went home saturday night and didn't come back sunday, c) others who booked three and brought 2 and didn't let me know or tell me why, d) the jeep full who arrived at 11.30 saturday and left at 15.30 and hadn't even booked with me having got a pass from some other section. I will be marking these 'do not ask back' for who ever takes over from me next year. Because of these kind of people we were 40%-50% down and the area was half empty have been set out for 38 vehicles and displays.
My thanks however to those that turned up regardless of illness, others who put the effort in to drag over two vehicles and others who put in lots of effors in their displays and of course to the fabulous ACWS reenactors and their terrific arena displays.
