🟦 🗑️ Blue Bins going to fortnightly collection. With more people ordering on-line, and the trend continuing, the sensible approach was always to have a more frequent blue bin collection. Thank you to everyone raising the issue with the council.

Great news for Cheadle residents.

Blue bin collections are going back to fortnightly, with the changes in before Christmas.

I know bin collections have caused real frustration for many of you in recent weeks, and I've heard directly how disruptive this has been. This is exactly the kind of change I like to see: the council has listened to what people have said. Residents told our local Lib Dem councillors they wanted a more regular service, and that's what's happening.

Thank you to everyone in Cheadle who raised this with us. It shows that speaking up and getting in touch really does make a difference.

From April 2027 disabled bus passes will work 24 hours a day so no more restrictions with a 9:30am start or 11pm cut-off on weekdays. This removes a real barrier to work, healthcare and social life for disabled residents here in Cheadle and across the UK.

A LibDem MP led campaign driven all the way to parliament, will now benefit around a million people nationwide. It’s great news!

The change, which has been welcomed by campaign groups, will come into effect in England from April.

UK health agency advice is “During an eclipse, the Sun appears dimmer than usual. This makes it easier to look at directly and that is the the problem. The reduced brightness can override the body's natural reflex to look away, allowing intense sunlight to reach and damage the retina. Polling Stations open at 7am for the Greater Manchester Mayoral Elections. Lib Dems won’t have any tellers at stations, same as last local elections. Be keen to know if any tellers appear at Heald Green stations pointing out names of candidates off the list.

Postal issues have got worse in Heald Green. Tom Morrison (MP), has now raised this directly with Royal Mail leaders and also in parliament. Whilst we wait on improvements from Royal Mail, registering with your hospital App would be worth considering, not just for now but going forward.

Many NHS hospitals are transitioning to digital-first communication for outpatient appointment letters, as it saves on paper, speeds up delivery, and allows patients to easily manage bookings online.

At my hospital, our team have deployed a digital solution as part of service transformation. Some common features, depending on how they’ve been set up are as follows.

* Text message or email containing a secure link to access hospital's Patient Portal using your date of birth and a PIN.
* Your can track healthcare communications.
* You can add appointments directly to your smartphone calendar, request to rebook or cancel slots.
Map out travel routes, and adjust text or translation settings for accessibility.
* Automatically mail out a physical letter if you haven’t opened the digital letter within a specified timeframe.

Your hospital would advise how best to register, may be it’s on your last correspondence, or they usually have this promoted on their website.

Appreciate digital solutions only help those with smartphones and wi-fi access so it’s important the Lib Dems continue to put pressure on Royal Mail for much needed actions.
